Jokes aside, leave Unity. Go Godot for small projects go Unreal for big.

First off, if you want C# support, this ain't it. You will want Godot off the official website, choose the Godot Engine .NET. If you just want to check out GDScript, then this is the version for you. It is definitely a lot simpler than C# if you struggle with coding like I do.

This game engine can be very simple to use and understand, just don't do what I did in the past: Don't get stuck in tutorial hell. You won't learn anything by just following along with a tutorial. If you want a teacher, then I would highly suggest a place like GameDev.tv as they do challenges. DO NOT SKIP THOSE! Do them, no matter how long it takes. Figure it out.

I have a bit more hours in this engine than what it shows on Steam as I am trying to learn C# as well, and I also dabble in Unity. Godot is the easiest engine to use by a long shot. I have used Unreal Engine for a few years as a hobby, and I might just switch to Godot full time. I feel that if you do game dev as a hobby only, choose Godot. It really does depend on what you are setting out to achieve, but Godot is a fantastic start in my opinion. A lot less frustration involved. And the experience with Godot will help when switching to Unity or Unreal if you need something a bit more powerful and complex later on.
