PLS HELP ME THE GAME CAN RUN BUT I CANT SELECT ANYTHING!

Sorry if it's listed anywhere. I can't find a manual or a Wiki to explain what the 3 game modes are and what they do. So what do they do?

Frankly i stopped playing this game because of the backgrounds hurting my eyes. It has very little contrast with the main visuals (player, enemies, bullets etc). Too much details / small pics moving too fast. And it doesn't even resemble anything except from the scenery in space those 10 seconds at the start. It's just pointless, anoying, eye killing details....

I am very much looking forward to play this. Good luck with the release!!! BTW the game seems to be not listed properly on the sales page as indicators for co-op or local co-op are missing or have I mistaken the spilt screen and it actually is single player only? ...
