Calling this a "racing game" is a bit of a stretch. It's got cars, but you don't actually drive them. You just control an object that's moving along a corridor, and you can slide it to the left or to the right of the screen. It's more a rhythm game than a racing game, actually. The fast pace feels artificial, like the game wants to pretend it's Wipeout, and when you're catching up to another car or if it's speeding away, it's a bit of a mystery as to the reason why, since you're not actually doing anything other than sliding some pixels left and right while going full throttle 100% of the time.

Playing Horizon Chase Turbo takes me right back to when my tiny little fingers were gripping the SEGA Genesis controller like it was my lifeline. The nostalgia hit so hard, I swear my thumbs are cramping just like they did when I was 7, trying to avoid hitting every wall in a racing game. 10/10, would relive my childhood thumb cramps again.
