Have they removed the option to have different screen layouts?
No matter what I do I can't toggle the different screen layouts mentioned in the manual, all it says is to press F5 but I've tried pressing it on every screen I can imagine both on keyboard and with controller as active input but there's just nothing happening.

I'm not sure, but they have updated it a few times since release I think, matching it up with the switch version (although this one still has extras), so i'm sure it could be a possibility it's gone.

The manual is outdated since it reflects the original port based on the 3DS version.

I think the screen settings are gone since everything can now be seen on one screen. And the addition of higher fps and 2's Kudos options being ported into 1.

The old 2-screen menu is a little nostalgic, but the updated 1-screen is a lot better.

You need to download an older build of this overrated game if you really want the old pseudo-3DS emulation version of the PC port with the changeable screen layouts. It should be possible to use Steam's console to download an older build and replacing the installation files with the older ones. A guide on how to find which manifest version for the older build that you want by searching the game's different build releases on SteamDB can be found here. The manifest ID for the pre-not-really-Switch-version-update-and-still-missing-stuff-from-that-version is 5097049076538511451 (December 26, 2016).

^Other than some remastered art for things like text boxes being missing, the PC version as it is in the most current version and actually has more content than any other version.

Although most of it is extra modes or speedrun options.

(they really should remove the always Online thing though. Thats the big issue with this version)
