Toggle to lock/unlock auto group in control panel
Its way to easy when you setup a bunch of custom groups to accidentally click auto group and destroy them. Would be nice to be able to easily (per ship) be able to enable or disable auto group.

Agreed on accidentally clicking on it. That's been a common gripe among players for many years.
They could easily solve it by just giving it a popup confirmation box after clicking it.
That way you can just click cancel instead of confirm and no harm done.

Locks etc would work but just adds unnecessary complexity. A simple confirmation popup is all that's really needed.
I wouldn't complain about either implementation though.

Another simple solution is that the auto group button should only affect things currently in the "ungrouped" category.
If something is already in a category, no matter if it be a custom category or moved into a default category already, then the autogroup button should have zero impact IMO.

I would prefer this along with a confirmation box for the auto group button personally.
