The series that began 4 years ago now continues with its latest instalment. Although the title makes you believe it is the 6th entry in the series, there was one titled Christmas that was released just late last year. Still, given the length of this game we can consider it the 6th episode as the Xmas part was more like a bonus title given it was accessible free of charge and that it was much shorter.

Let's talk about the format first! What makes this series unique? Haven't we seen a similar HOG before? You may have but for me the FIND ALL games are the ones where there is a strict order in which the objects need to be found. And it is always 3 types that are available (their pictures are visible at the bottom). Should you exhaust one, you decide (from 3 newly presented) which one you would like to be added to the other two.

An interesting concept and as you scroll the screen you notice many other objects standing out so you know it will be their turn soon. Because of this the closer to the end game you are, finding the next object becomes faster. It should also be noted that once a small section has been fully investigated and you can no longer find anything there, it becomes fully coloured. And with colour come certain animated characters (mostly, humanoid cats doing their daily tasks). All this accompanied by relaxing music.

By why the Netherlands now? We had Vikings, Magic and Travel. More interesting, more complex themes. Will they now rely on geographical areas just like in case of other HOGs on the market? Perhaps they will do so but given the unique approach the games has, I wouldn't consider this an issue. Also, I like how the objects are country-specific now so you can collect klomps on one level or a lot of earrings (the cat version of the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring painting is available). The 3 maps means 3 different cities and I must admit I was surprised to see palm trees and coral on one of them only to realise it was Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba.

Great game! On par with the rest of the series and it has great longevity!

What can I say...this is one of the few game series, where every new entry is an automatic release day purchase for me. :D A must have for any fan of mini-hogs as it's of a higher standard than many other games in the genre. It's not just a 5 minute find 100 hidden objects deal.

It starts out black and white, but as you find each item the item itself and parts of the scene gradually gets coloured in until the scene is fully coloured. Some bits of the scene are also animated, so when they are coloured things like boats will start sailing, npcs will start moving and such. There are 750 total items to find spread over several levels. The way it works is that you're shown 3 different items to find. Once you find all of 1 of these items, you get to choose between 3 new items for which to add to the pool of items to find next. Rinse repeat until all items in the scene has been found.

It's just all round a relaxing little game with pleasing non-intrusive background music. There are also NO timers, which I very much appreciate.

The Find All series is definitely one of the better hidden object projects available in a very crowded market. Very Very LITTLE Studio always do a good job and Find All 6 Netherlands is no exception.

Having said that, I don’t think this installment is my favourite in the franchise but it keeps the high standards of its predecessors with challenging difficulty, plenty of content, a simple to use hint system and UI, and a very competitive price.

I just think that the subject matter is not as exciting as some of the previous games like Travel, Magic, and Vikings, which had an interesting theme and lots of different environments. I did wonder before Netherlands was released what themes they were going to use. The obvious ones would be windmills, tulips, canals, cheese, art, and maybe drugs and prostitution, and a lot of those are included (not the drugs or prostitution) but the environments are mainly just shops and residencies alongside a canal, so it felt like there wasn’t as much variety as previous games.

There are some interactive moments but they are quite rare and mostly involve opening doors to shops, and shutters on windows, to reveal what’s inside. Hints can be used every one minute and are unlimited. They take you to the location of the item within a small window within which you must search. It’s the same hint system as before. I had to turn down the glare to almost zero in the options because it was uncomfortably bright, but I didn’t think of checking the settings until half way through, so perhaps it needs to be dimmer as a default and made brighter if wanted. I also turned on the effects noise for finding an item which sounded much better.

The music is of high quality and very relaxing to listen to as you search for items, but it felt like there weren’t many tracks and they were quite short and just looped on repeat. I would love to see in future editions the ability to choose your tracks from a list of many so you can pick your favourites and have them playing.

There isn’t much difference or advancement from previous games. The franchise had evolved with each game getting bigger and better than the last, but this one feels like it has stagnated a little, although I did enjoy finding some items which people were wearing, which I think is new. There is a generous five hours of content, if you refrain from using hints too much, but there were some frustrating moments during game play like some very difficult items to find, even when using a hint, and they weren’t necessarily cleverly hidden objects, just ones that didn’t quite look right or were squeezed in too tightly.

Find All 6: Netherlands is another enjoyable game in the franchise, although I couldn’t say it is my favourite one. I don’t think it has the imagination or variety of some of the others but the art work and quality of the game overall is very good.

If you enjoy hidden object games then I would certainly recommend this one and the series in general, but if you have played any previous ones you may notice this one doesn’t advance the franchise and feels a little stale.
