Early Access Release / The Path to 1.0 / Feedback Survey

Hey Clockwork players! We are now released onto Early Access, which is super exciting for our team!
Now that you can get hands on with the game, we want to talk about what's coming in the future and how you can directly give us feedback.

Early Access Timeline

We plan to release out of Early Access by the beginning of May 2025.

We'll use this time to work on our planned '1.0' content, collect feedback from our players, and perform an abundant amount of bugfixes, QoL improvements, and some visual upgrades.

We currently are not planning on doing weekly updates to fix bugs, as our timeline is fairly small. However, if you are encountering a severe bug, whether visual or game-breaking, please make sure to let us know!

The '1.0' Release Features

As we plan to fully release by May, we want to share our plans for the further content that will be added to the game. This is what it currently looks like:

An entire new level-area, the *Lab* Exhibit! This will include several new enemies, a new boss, and a new elemental charge to use on your weapon builds,
Clockwork Sword's final boss, the *Mechanical Hydra*! This will present a tough challenge and new POV during a multi-phase intense boss fight to close out the game with a bang!
A score system! During gameplay, you'll earn points for killing enemies, clearing level-areas, and more points based on how fast you take out each encounter and the final boss. We are currently planning to link this to an online leaderboard so you can compete with your friends and the world to get the best score!
Achievements! From easy to hard, we'll be adding achievements that will be tracked both internally and on your profile.
Clockwork Sword's original soundtrack! Available for free download!
Chinese localization!
Tons of bugfixes, QoL changes, and visual improvements!

Some feedback on Early Access release

Quick rundown of my initial impressions on booting the game up for the first time. Issues: After starting the gameplay, I lose the mouse cursor and can't navigate some menus. Pause and Continue menus don't work with arrow keys. I can't choose to go back to the menu or reload checkpoint after a death without closing the game, which is pretty bad. I tried this both in fullscreen and windowed, and neither worked. Pros: +Very nice workbench and attack animations. Easily the best part of the game for how coo...

Early Access Review

1) Game does not support controllers. Using SteamInput to emulate a mouse on a joystick is not ideal.
2) Once pressure gauge is full, you need to click the button to switch weapons to execute powered-up attacks. This changes the sword(melee) to a bow(ranged) style mid-battle. This is frustrating as you don't hit enemies after switching and get hit.

Early Access Review

Awesome graphics, engaging, fast-paced, and has great gameplay. Pretty darn fantastic for a student game. Smart and sophisticated.
