Does it require a connection to server for SP?

Hey there, thinking about getting the game, but I had a question... Some games, even when listing "single player" still require a connection to some server to play alone. I'm not concerned about my connection, I'm just always concerned about whether or not I'll be able to play if the company's servers are messing up, or if I'm gonna get kicked out mid-game because of a connection error. Bugs like that are acceptable and somewhat expected during online play, but not during offline... so I just wanted to ...
