I did give you an upvote.
This is specifically if you're boarding from Range 1. Alot of boarding happens with the Gunner and Bounty Hunter talents or with your assault shuttles, and in those cases, you can only use the crew brought along. Thanks for the upvote; steam guide visibility is purely based on it for some bizarre reason.
Yes, yes, google is evil. So is steam. And capitalism in general, yadda, yadda. Just run ublock, decentraleyes, and ghostery on Firefox. Problem solved. Discussion over.
Obviously and always, this is objective, subjective, and biased, as all guides are want to be. Nothing should be taken as gospel, it's just my opinion after a few hundred hours of play. There will ~always~ be use cases I haven't considered and situations I've never seen, hence all the disclaimers and explanations at the start of the guide.
I made it because I like the game, and I like making things. I like writing prose, and that absolutely shows in both of my steam guides and all my published works. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to write a purely statistical and factual analysis, I would bore myself to death before 10 pages.
But enough of me here, you asked to check it out, I did and already told what my impression is in the previous post.
I skimmed through really quick but my personal disagreements are:
Fortitude is the most important attribute. Quickness is useful in most combat classes but there are some that do not prioritize it. My preferred rifle build requires Str, Wis, Fort. But again, most classes are Quik, Wis, Fort.
Pistols are the crappiest of the three combat styles.
and Gunners can be fired indiscriminately. You can hire one later if you needed the talent involving +dmg or the boarding from range 3. Crews that fill in your ship stats do not benefit heavily from boosted attributes. You are better off trying to replace with higher level conscripts of ship crew so that you can fit in more space for things like command crew or specialists.
==========
I might actually write a quick one now since you have all the talents listed in yours. I wouldn't type everything since 90% of talents I feel are worthless compared to the better alternative. Pretty much saves are always Required Tier. Well, maybe only the space travel ones.
In a way, it's almost a shame that you included a tier list, because it seems very heavily skewed towards your style of play (which is not really a criticism, per se) and my biggest concern with this is that a new player might take far longer to discover their own playstyle having been steered away from some very powerful talents.
But as a resource for getting over the learning curve, there is nothing else anything like this to be found all in one digestible volume. So massive kudos and huge thanks for making this.
Super valuable resource we have pinned and will be recommending for sure!
Every play style is different, every player ranking of things is different, so we'd love to see more players put this amazing amount of effort into sharing their knowledge!
But I remember why I was incentived to look at this.
I wanted to see someone else's opinion on a certain Wing Commando talent.
RIPCORD.
Yes, Trese Brothers. BUT WHY? BUT WHY DOES THIS TALENT EVEN EXIST!?!?!!??
Maybe we board with 4 wing commandos and have them all use Ripcord for the Just Kidding Lulz?
Thanks. I pondered it for a while how to guide new players to the good without biasing them for awhile actually. Because ALOT of talents have so many weird use cases, I settled on a tier-list being the least offensive way to do it, compared to say, doing 1-10 or 5/7 ratings. (lol)
As I mention above, there is no way to keep everyone happy in a guide. Guides are just that, guides, not gospels. They are objective, subjective, and biased to my experiences. Feel free to make your own, of course. I'm not going to fight over individual interpretations.
Thanks for the pin! Glad the Bro's like it.
