There's a little too much extra stuff around the edges... you don't need a playable level select, you don't need the hideout, pressing keys is easier than holding keys, the end level sequences go on for a long time... but the core game here seems very nice. Having airjump options beyond simple double jumps is interesting, and the level design is always very approachable, and the graphics are generally delightful. The game is adorable and I love it for that, the platforming is simplistic but nice But every time i paused the game it got really slow. Dunno why since it wasn't really doing anything super graphically intensive or anything... Also the swimming is too slow, but that's not as bad as the game slowing down significantly whenever I pause and then staying like that for about a minute afterward...
