A lot of negative reviews due to keyboard mapping not quite working right on launch, which is sad to see. Other then this (and some slippery DAS issues), this is a pretty great implementation of TGM in a modern format that you can help support the devs with. The OST is pretty good, and they've implemented TGM1 as TGM Controls-> Standard Mode. There's even a practice mode implemented to test out some the incredibly hard gimmicks you'll find that's fairly robust.

A bit puzzled at some of the review talking about diagonal inputs not working... they've never been recognized in a TGM game ever... probably some people from Tetris Effect wondering why certain things from there don't work here. Several techniques TGM players use even rely upon them not being implemented (zangi-moves).

tl;dr Great game, and a great implementation of TGM... unless you're a keyboard player, in which I would wait for the keyboard rebinding issues to be fixed. If you're a Tetris player, I'd advise you to try out Tetris Effect first to get your fix unless you're ready for the challenge here: you're getting the TGM experience and a few brand new modes to cover the gamut of skill levels in it, but not much else.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am talking from a consumer standpoint. I have in fact played lots of TGM in the past on various different input methods over the years, unlike what some people are saying about me.

TGM4 is a great game for a TGM game. If you like TGM games and your primary method of input is controller or stick, then you will get a lot of value out of this game. My primary method of input is not either of those two.

Unfortunately, there are a few glaring issues with keyboard support as it stands.

- Keyboard mappings are non-rebindable in their entirety. Even if they were rebindable, I get the impression that the cardinal directions would not have been able to be rebound anyway. This is bad because Up is bound to space by default and I'd want to have it on up arrow.
- In the TGM ruleset, you cannot press down to lock the piece if you are holding up at the same time. This disrupts flow and ultimately makes playing fast at low speeds awkward.
- If you press the opposite direction the piece is currently moving, the momentum is retained, causing the controls to feel slippery. This is in contrast with other Tetris games and can be a problem for newcomers.

Overall, I would not recommend the game in this state until these issues are addressed. My review will flip when updates are pushed.

I'll need to leave a more in-depth review later, but I just got done with a 6 hour session and am enjoying it a ton so far. It's exciting to have a new TGM challenge to sink my teeth into.

I know some other players have been have been running into some issues with keyboard controls etc.. But, hopefully when the problems are resolved by the devs, this can be a game that all Tetris fanatics can return to and enjoy.
