The Director Akikawa Strat
So I've been doing all these career runs trying different min-max strats for Winning Ticket, and all of them have lost on the Arima Kinen.

Some of them like the meta speed / stamina decks wiped out as early as the Japanese Derby.

Hilariously, the smoothest run I had was the joke run where I ran a Stam / Guts deck and spent three years stalking Akikawa for fun :P
Hell, it STILL has the highest score in my Hall of Fame for Winning Ticket even though I've done like 5 careers with her since. (although I'm guessing it's at least partly due to all the extra skill points Akikawa gives you)

Does the director like, naturally gravitate towards the stat you need to work on the most for the next race, or something?

What guide are you following? Director just gives up bonus skill points. RNG 1/6
As far as I am aware, the Director only gives you skill points during the career. After winning the URA Finale when you have her at max friendship, she gives you the Director's Fan, and boosts your Uma by a certain amount in all stats. Otherwise, she doesn't really give you much else?

AFAIK she just randomly goes where she goes. I've never seen a pattern, but I've never particularly looked for one either.

If there was one I think someone would've pointed it out by now or it would be a thing...or if it actually is a thing, its not something anyone thought it was worthy to point out. Probably like Tazuna, the Director going to where she "thinks you should raise" would be erroneous, like most of the advice from the NPCs.
If you really want to be specific, she is needed for to upgrade ultimate for the fan fest event.
• Early April - Senior Year
• 70,000 Fans(Turf) or 60,000(Dirt)
• 3 Bar Friendship with Director Akikawa

I don't think anyone is reading your post properly...

What are you saying? The probability is 1/6 to appear on the training site you want. 5 base site and 1 not appearing. Her main usage is to get the fan fest upgrade early April 3rd year, (+15 all stats and +50 sp) if max friendship after URA finale.

lol you're probably right - I just got Winning Ticket to the Finale Semifinals for the first time and I only crossed paths with the director during training like maybe 2 or 3 times during the run.

My build was actually strong enough to win the Finales (she was the No.1 favorite throughout the entire career) but she kept placing 2nd and 3rd during the Finale and I eventually ran out of alarm clock attempts :P

Because all the other answers are about how to get her benefits and so are you, he only asked if she appears where you need to train your stats. That's the only thing OP asked for.
If we talk about pattern, in my case, she mostly around guts and wits training.

OP doesn't understand how she works " ..., or something? ". I explained her mechanics and what she is there for in the scenario. Whether he accepts the answers or not is not for you to decide.
I just did a Gold Ship run with your strategy. I cleared all the goals, which was a surprise as I am terrible at this game. The last goal did take me three attempts to place first though.

Perhaps this intentional? She is the director and based off a legendary horse, so they sim that she knows what she is doing?

I did not win the URA Finals, but I accept full blame for that. My cards were poor and on days she is not available I was lost what to train. It made me sad when her cute face was not an option.
Aikawa is the worst support to stalk. Even worse than the Reporter. You just got lucky in that one run.

You guys aren't winning the URA Finals, meanwhile those of us who know how to play the game are clearing it easily, and we do't follow the director. We go where the majority of supports are hangingg out to maximize stat gains an Friendship meters, let the Friendships trigger Rainbows and risk and use them, and most importantly we prep our Support Deck ahead of the run because that's what matters the most.

Thinking Aikawa is there to guide you to the optimal training schedule, is like listening to Tazuna.
