Stickying this thread as it seems to have worked for at least a few people - if anyone uses this and encounters problems or it does/doesn't work, please do update this thread so we can be aware.
Please also note, that this 'Nightmare Bug' is an issue that seems to only be present on certain PC setups that are BELOW the minimum required specifications to run the game. As it is a problem that occurs on systems that we did NOT deem to be able to run the full game in it's entirety (and we set the minimum requirements accordingly), we ourselves will be unable to provide support for this issue.
There is a little FAQ thread I made a while ago and update from time to time.
Maybe it makes sense to put a link to it in the sticky FAQ thread as it contains some updated solutions.

- Go into your Steam library
- Rightclick "Life is Strange" and select "Properties"
- Switch to the "Updates" tab
- Untick the checkbox at the bottom in the "Steam Cloud" section

When you choose the option "reset game from this chapter", it will "restart" the game from there. If you used the program linked in the main post above, you will have the possibility to recover a backup. ;)
