[Fix]Episode 5 Nighmare Error Workaround
Introduction
This workaround is made for everyone who has the famous "nightmare bug" where the player can't control Max after the dinner scene.

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any damage that may occur when using this tool.
You are doing this completely at your own risk!
This program is in no way affiliated with Dontnod or Square Enix.
Note: Although the program makes a backup of your savegame, you may loose them (no software is perfect). So always make a manual backup of your savegames!

Instructions
First, make sure the last time you saved was before the dinner scene. Then continue with these steps:
  1. Deactivate the Steam cloud for Life is Strange
  2. Download the tool from the link below and start it
  3. Select the slot you play on and follow the on-screen instructions
  4. If the steps finished successfully, start the game and load the savegame you patched with the program
  5. Select "Play episode", select "Episode 5: Polarized", go to the right with the arrow and select the last chapter "Cliff"
  6. Now you can enjoy the ending with the decisions you made
    Note: The save game may be corrupt, so it's possible that you won't get 100% complete and stuff.

Cool stuff Polorex, thanks for your work on this. Will be interesting to see if it works for people.

Stickying this thread as it seems to have worked for at least a few people - if anyone uses this and encounters problems or it does/doesn't work, please do update this thread so we can be aware.

Please also note, that this 'Nightmare Bug' is an issue that seems to only be present on certain PC setups that are BELOW the minimum required specifications to run the game. As it is a problem that occurs on systems that we did NOT deem to be able to run the full game in it's entirety (and we set the minimum requirements accordingly), we ourselves will be unable to provide support for this issue.

A sticky thread? Wow, didn't think it would be that important.

There is a little FAQ thread I made a while ago and update from time to time.
Maybe it makes sense to put a link to it in the sticky FAQ thread as it contains some updated solutions.

  1. Go into your Steam library
  2. Rightclick "Life is Strange" and select "Properties"
  3. Switch to the "Updates" tab
  4. Untick the checkbox at the bottom in the "Steam Cloud" section
Synchronisation should now be disabled

Yes, when I select "Cliff" on the save I patched that happens.

Yes, that's what's supposed to happen.
When you choose the option "reset game from this chapter", it will "restart" the game from there. If you used the program linked in the main post above, you will have the possibility to recover a backup. ;)
