Nancy Drew: The Creature of Kapu Cave is one of my least favorite of the HER series. With a strong emphasis on science-y story and puzzles, it doesn't appeal to me personally. I played this game once when it originally came out and have never replayed it until now.

Pros: Switching to the POV of the Hardy Boys was a lot of fun and different than other games in this series. The mini games of shell scavenging, necklace making, and fishing were okay, if a bit repetitive. Vibrant scenery based in Hawaii.

Cons: Several of the puzzles. Non-engaging story. For me, the Quigly character was insufferable. Dr. Craven is a terrifying character of a man with volatile anger issues. The frass examination task is awful. Even the titular Kapu Cave wasn't all that great. There was very little to explore at Kapu Cave and when Nancy did finally get farther inside, it was at the end of the game already.

Overall, this one is not that memorable, and there's a reason I had only played this one once before. This game sat on pause for hours on end because I would get frustrated and demotivated to keep trying at the puzzles. I did finally finish this one, however. I won't be replaying this one anytime soon, that's for sure.
