Hello!

I hope everyone has had an overall good experience with the game. If you haven't played yet, please be sure to have the 1.1 update which patches a few glitches here and there. I wanted to talk a little about update 1.2 and explain the Hazmat Boss really quick.

Hazmat Boss: Originally there was no pistol weapon in the game and the Hazmat could only be defeated by running from him, crouching, and sneaking behind him. However, a little more content existed in which you needed to use the pistol on enemies, but it wasn't quite ready for the game's release. So, I quickly did away with them but left the pistol and made the Hazmat Boss shootable. I didn't want to remove the stealth kill code, so my only choice was to combine them. The boss works fine, and is not broken, it's just tricky to kill for the time being.


Update 1.2: I wanted to tell you all about what to expect in the next update.
1.) Will fix game breaking issue - if already crouched when approaching hazmat boss to talk. Sam remains crouched and glitches out.
2.) The monolith will be removed and replace with a hint system activated by pressing the "B" button on controller and "H" button on keyboard.
3.) Hazmat boss will no longer be stunned by the pistol and can be defeated by the original way described above or by shooting him (if you don't waste all your bullets).
4.) Ammo will be more limited.
5.) Having a pistol will be optional and the 2nd one will be removed. (was only there if you didn't pick it up earlier).
6.) Autosave graphic will appear to let players know when autosave occurs.


I have heard some suggestions for things to include in future updates like more sprint and having an option for the camera y-axis inverted. I also plan to finish the "in progress" content which includes a type of enemy you can shoot and more paths to take.

3. clean up trigger box duplicate activations

***please note, the Hazmat boss isn't broken, spoiler below for how to beat him:
Shot to stun him then sneak around behind him when he tries to look around for you, a prompt will appear, and you can smack him on the back. Repeat 3x

A new demo is up with a few changes representing the final product. If you had issues playing it on your PC or Steam Deck please feel try this new version.

Demo Updates Include:
-Massive increase in Frame Rate

Hello!

I have officially set in stone a release date that will not be changed. Mark your calendars for March 18th, 2025.

I know it's a bummer having to wait another month, but this move was strategic and needed for multiple reasons.

1.) The game is already finished, but this will give me some extra time to test it and make sure I find as many issues as possible.

2.) I wasn't going to implement Achievements, but now this will give me time to try and add them.

3. This date will allow the game to participate in Steam's Next Fest, letting people try the demo and provide more feedback in case there are suggestions that may improve the game.

*** Also, a new demo will be uploaded this week and will have a much better frame rate, bug fixes, and some slight alterations resembling the final product. So, if you had issues before, you may not have them now.

Again, I apologize for this final delay, but I want this experience to be the best it can be.

I appreciate your patience and can't wait to show you my version of the Backrooms.

Sorry for the delay again. Last night the game was working and I woke up this morning to upload it and suddenly it won't open. I'm going to spend the next few days debugging it to see if it's recoverable. Luckily, it's backed up and I can use a version from last week. Either way there will be a delay. On the plus side I can have a little more time to polish any issues. I'm really excited to give you all a great experience and hopefully do the backrooms justice. I've been putting in many hours and I find the backroom concept fascinating. I just want to give you all the best experience possible.

I'm sure everyone is wondering what the status is for the game. Worry not, as of today the game is done! However, I pushed back the release date to provide time to Beta test and start preparing marketing materials such as a trailer and updated screenshots. I'm really excited about the game and hope it pleased all fans of the backrooms.

Things to expect in this game:

-water slides (epileptic seizure warning)
-pools
-companion characters
-walking simulator
-1 boss fight
-puzzles
-some eerie conditions and a few jump scares
-flashlight and gun wielding
-chase sequences
-teleportation
-different backrooms levels
