Hello all!

Patch 1.5 is finally here. This includes about ten extra minutes of gameplay including: 2 puzzles, more Sam and Paul backstory, and extra backrooms exploration.

There will be one more major update for this game, which will be patch 2.0. It will include a new entity, more notes, new areas, and more.

Hello everyone!

Within the next 2 or 3 days patch 1.5 will be released. This will include 2 puzzles, new backstory content for Paul and Sam, and some extended Backrooms locations - adding about 10 minutes of play time overall.

(You’ll also notice a blocked off area- that will be content for the final major patch coming in about 2 weeks. Just ignore for now.)

I hope everyone has been enjoying the initial release of The Backrooms: Forsaken. I have a major update for everyone. I have spent the last few weeks making additional content. This includes new menu options such as inverted camera y-axis control, controller sensitivity controls, and I noticed that the settings for the main screen sometimes don't carry over into the main game, so that should also be fixed as of this release.

I have added "Hound" enemies, a maze, some room extensions, 2 new puzzles, new notes, optimized the frame rate more, have a secret cheat event if you use all of them, and some game breaking bug fixes.


There will be about 1 or 2 more updates which will include a secret boss, a puzzle change, almond milk providing extended sprint, and some other small content additions.

Hello!

This is a pretty big update to the game. Please be sure to update your version if you have already downloaded it. The following additions have been made:

-Hound entities
-Extended content, level extensions, and a new maze.
-Secret Cheat achievement if you talk to the first 4 monoliths in a row.


I haven't had a chance to add the secret boss fight yet and the inverted Y-axis to the camera, but this new update should be considered the full game as it was originally intended. I just didn't have the Hounds ready and it made for an awkward Hazmat boss fight.

Anyway! I'll be out of town for a few weeks, but please give this new update a try! :D

I wanted to let you all know what to expect in the coming update:

-Extended content
-Hound Entities added (original need for the pistol weapon)
-Secret "Cheat" encounter and entity
-Extended rooms

-More areas that will have unlimited sprint enabled
-2 new achievements

I mentioned that I would implement a cheat button and remove the monoliths, but I've thought of an interesting way to implement it for something else.

New Patch Includes:

-Player already crouching during Hazmat interaction should no longer break game
-Hazmat boss can be defeated easily with gun or without gun (if you use all your bullets).
-New hazmat melee animations including flashlight melee, knife melee
-Ammo crate limited to 1
-2nd pistol removed and pistol utility optional
-Autosave graphic will appear to let players know when autosave occurs.

I hope everyone has had an overall good experience with the game. If you haven't played yet, please be sure to have the 1.1 update which patches a few glitches here and there. I wanted to talk a little about update 1.2 and explain the Hazmat Boss really quick.

Hazmat Boss: Originally there was no pistol weapon in the game and the Hazmat could only be defeated by running from him, crouching, and sneaking behind him. However, a little more content existed in which you needed to use the pistol on enemies, but it wasn't quite ready for the game's release. So, I quickly did away with them but left the pistol and made the Hazmat Boss shootable. I didn't want to remove the stealth kill code, so my only choice was to combine them. The boss works fine, and is not broken, it's just tricky to kill for the time being.


Update 1.2: I wanted to tell you all about what to expect in the next update.
1.) Will fix game breaking issue - if already crouched when approaching hazmat boss to talk. Sam remains crouched and glitches out.
2.) The monolith will be removed and replace with a hint system activated by pressing the "B" button on controller and "H" button on keyboard.
3.) Hazmat boss will no longer be stunned by the pistol and can be defeated by the original way described above or by shooting him (if you don't waste all your bullets).
4.) Ammo will be more limited.
5.) Having a pistol will be optional and the 2nd one will be removed. (was only there if you didn't pick it up earlier).
6.) Autosave graphic will appear to let players know when autosave occurs.


I have heard some suggestions for things to include in future updates like more sprint and having an option for the camera y-axis inverted. I also plan to finish the "in progress" content which includes a type of enemy you can shoot and more paths to take.

1. player can no longer skip last tube cutscene
2. music overlaps from hazmat boss
3. clean up trigger box duplicate activations

***please note, the Hazmat boss isn't broken, spoiler below for how to beat him:
Shot to stun him then sneak around behind him when he tries to look around for you, a prompt will appear, and you can smack him on the back. Repeat 3x
