It's time for another Puck update! This one brings a lot of improvements for Steam integration along with some cosmetic elements and other QOL improvements.

Changes & additions:

Added settings options for selecting a target display along with target resolution and refresh rate
Player names and numbers are now saved in the Puck database and can only be changed once every 7 days
Dedicated servers got a few new configuration keys such as:
- sleepTimeout seconds after which idle players will be kicked (60 by default)
- joinMidMatchDelay seconds after which players are allowed to join an existing match (10 by default)
- clientTickRate the rate at which players send input updates to the server (200 by default, was 100 previously - should improve input lag)
- startPaused servers will start with the game state paused (off by default and will start a server in Warmup if toggled on)
- allowVoting toggles all voting commands
The server browser will now respect the isPublic configuration toggle and not display the server at all if set to false
Players can now join a game mid-match with a pre-configured timeout
Server browser will fallback to showing a server anyways if no pong was received (ping will be ?)
Full implementation of Steam Rich Presence:
- Players will show a status based on what position and team they are playing on in Steam status
- You can invite friends to your server via Steam and accepting the invite will join the user to your server (will open the game also if closed)
- Your Steam friends can Join Game on you and they will join your server (will open the game also if closed)
Players will be kicked from servers for being idle for too long
Updated local player design in the minimap
Added new popup notification system
- Confirmation window will be shown when trying to exit the game
- Being muted or banned will also show a popup telling you the reason and unmute/unban datetime
- Setting your identity will show a confirmation window informing you of 7 day namechange timeout
Dedicated server configuration path is now configurable with --serverConfigurationPath launch argument
Dedicated server ban list is now configurable with --bannedSteamIdsPath launch argument
Dedicated server configuration and ban list will now be formatted with JSON indents when generated from scratch
Increased rink size by 20%
Refactored all stick shaders
Refactored all tape shaders
Added Apex, Carbon & Reinforcer lines of sticks for Skater
Added Havoc & Vapor lines of sticks for Goalie
Reworked the classic skin to be a part of the Classic line of sticks which will be expanded at a later date
Added Classic stick to Goalie
Added dark gray, green, light blue, lime, magenta, navy, orange, pink, purple and teal stick tape colors
All existing skins are now part of Covert line which is no longer available for purchase, though existing owners will be able to select & use them
Updated the design of the puck
Updated the texture for the rink to match the size increase and fix some alignment issues with the existing texture
Lowered the global brightness of the rink slightly and increased shadow intensity for all objects in the rink
Added console chat logging for dedicated servers

Bugfixes:

Fixed backend issues causing constant restarts
Fixed the stick jittering when leading the puck on the very tip of the blade
Fixed the stick jittering when colliding with any other stick
Fixed the stick rotating the player if the force on stick -> stick collision is too high
Fixed the stick collider containing a slippery collider on the heel part of the blade
Fixed shadows disappearing at further distances
Fixed an issue where the Goalie's leg pads would be stuck open after toggling slide while dashing
Fixed players jittering on high tickrate servers with network smoothing enabled
Fixed an issue where doing /resume multiple times would increase the game state tick speed
Fixed team blue using the torso texture for the groin for the default skin
Fixed server metrics printing FPS incorrectly

Product received for free

very amusing and addictive hockey game. Easy to learn but hard to master or basically do anything with the puck, but man do you have fun sucking at this game.

trying SO hard to enjoy this

controlling the puck is impossible for me. maybe if the puck was to have lower speeds? i have dinked with my settings a million times to try to get it feel just right but MANNN its hard to control this puck. how do u guys do it !!!

Regular Puck update is here, and I think you'll really enjoy this one. The big addition this time is network smoothing along with a ton of other additions and changes. Enjoy and have fun!

Changes & additions:

Re-wrote the Puck backend (yes, I know, again...) to Node.js
Created UI dashboard for Puck backend system
Implemented SSL certificates for backend
Moved backend from 8080 port to secure 443 port
Added uPnP support for /debug's host server feature
Implemented administration system for dedicated servers (more on this at the bottom)
Exposed most game control variables to dedicated server configuration (more on this at the bottom)
Replaced server configuration CLI arguments with dedicates configuration .json
Added banned SteamIDs configuration file to dedicated servers
Added prevention of dedicated server admins from being /votekicked from their own servers
Added /pause, /resume for dedicated server admins to pause current game state or resume it
Added /kick, /ban, /bansteamid and /unbansteamid for dedicated server admins
Kicked players will now be timed out for 5 minutes before being allowed to join the same server
Implemented network smoothing :mega:! (you can toggle the smoothing in the game settings and adjust the intensity to 3 individual levels)
Goalie's leg pads will kick the opposite way of dashing while in butterfly position
Goalie's slide drag is now the same as Skater's
Refactored player controller for both Skater and Goalie to support network smoothing
Refactored jumping to be less weighted and allow for slightly more air time
Refactored bodychecking (this fixes cases where sometimes falling over would cause your to pop back up instantly)
Refactored leaning (leaning into turns should now be smoother and more consistent with angular velocity)
Refactored sequence of events when bodychecked (player bodies will now be required to fall over completely before starting to get back up)
Refactored get up sequence to be less bouncy (player bodies will now straighten themselves in 5 seconds and push themselves off the ground after a short period)
Refactored double-tap spinning to be more skill focused as now you have to catch yourself to land a perfect 180 (thanks @bojarzin for the idea)
Refactored VOIP to use Steam's Voice API (10x reduction in bandwidth and 3x improvement in streamed voice quality)
Refactored player body soft collisions (now soft collisions are triggered not only for the boards, but also for other players)
Improved network compression of both inbound and outbound packets (almost 2x improvement in bandwidth consumption for both client and server)
Replaced puck collider with a simple cylinder shape
Raised puck -> board bounce
Player bodies are now 20% slimmer to avoid constant clumping of bodies

Bugfixes:

Fixed an issue where the player body would jitter when fallen over
Fixed puck camera stuttering for servers that have been running for longer periods of time
Fixed goals being registered when puck impacts the net at high speed
Fixed ghost collisions for the puck
Fixed puck feeling feather light when leading it
Fixed puck passing through boards in certain cases
Fixed stick inertia causing the stick to spin in circles with high enough mouse sensitivity
Fixed an issue where server names would be only partially rendered in the scoreboard
Fixed an issue where some or most servers would not display in the server browser
Fixed server browser displaying all servers at once after refresh (now servers are displayed as soon as a pong is received)
Fixed incorrectly baked lighting shadows in the changing room
Fixed incorrectly baked lighting shadows in the rink
Fixed exploit of players modifying registry to set custom usernames & player numbers
Fixed Unity's Rich Text exploit for usernames, player numbers, chat & scoreboard
Fixed an issue where player's flag would default to Latvia if the game was launched for the first time
Fixed an issue where some regions would get <united>1.234</united> printed in the chat on goal score
