Since many were typing "Gamba Life" on the reviews, I thought it was a f2p minecraft knockoff with microtransactions in it but no, it's a fun game.

If you are an adult and want to take a break from the fps titles then you can give this one a try. Perfect for kids.

As for the game, the crafting system needs some work, wonky movements here and there, feels like a pre-release ver than a full one and why is my GPU at full usage for these cartoony graphics (needs optimization).

Rolling the Dice... and Rolling My Eyes... Pair A Dice caught my eye on social media with an interesting idea: a dice-based survival game that mixes crafting, exploration, and gem collecting. On paper, it sounds like a fun twist on some familiar mechanics but in practice, the game stumbles right out of the gate.

Let’s start with the most baffling design choice: the game just launched, and it’s already selling extra dice as DLC. You’re locked into using only basic 6-sided dice unless you pay for access to the more interesting options like 20-siders, game options etc. For a game literally built around dice, hiding variety behind a paywall this early feels tone-deaf at best, and greedy at worst. It’s disappointing to see content gated when the base game itself feels so incomplete.

The opening of the game doesn’t do much to help either. The intro is slow and lacks any real hook to pull you in. There’s no real sense of immersion, and it’s not clear what your goals are or how the mechanics work. You're dropped into a world where you're expected to survive, collect gems, and craft... but how any of that functions is left up to your imagination. Crafting, in particular, feels like guesswork. There’s little to no guidance, and the UI does a poor job of communicating what you’re supposed to be doing.

That said, the game does run smoothly. Performance-wise, there were no stutters or crashes in my short time with it. However, for a game with such simplistic graphics, the fact that it was using close to 100% of my GPU is quite concerning. I won’t go as far as to accuse it of being a crypto miner, but it’s definitely using more resources than it should for what’s on screen..

The audio design is another strange point. With volume set to 100%, the game still sounds like it's barely trying.. Effects are quiet and the overall sound mix feels lifeless. It’s not game-breaking, but it certainly doesn’t help the atmosphere, which is already lacking.

In its current state, Pair A Dice feels more like an early prototype than a finished product. There’s an idea here that could become something genuinely enjoyable, but the lack of polish, unclear mechanics, and early monetization choices really drag the experience down. I can’t recommend it in its current form, but with serious updates and a rethinking of its content model, it might have a second chance.

The controls need to be re done. Crafting is confusing and interacting with items is clunky. While the dice are cool, its just annoying to play this game in its current state and please for the love of god let me save my game. Also, the tutorial does a good job of showing you how to play the game, it just leaves you lost.

I played this game because gambling funny haha, but rolling the dice either gives you a neutral outcome (basic resources to play the game), or a bad outcome (seagulls, crabs, ect.). I say bad because its just more work for those essential resources. I would love to see dice outcomes that are more positive to get that gambling buzz, instead of "oh, i guess i'll need that later", which is about as exciting as the dice rolling gets. Don't get me wrong, there are some good bones in this game, but i simply cannot recommend it nor have fun playing it right now. 1/10
