ANEURISM IV

ANEURISM IV

Thieves' Union - Thieves of all servers, unite!
I announce the creation of the thieves' union.
I will not play this game and tell others not to buy it or play it starting now. I encourage all thieves and non-thieves to do the same, and/or to speak out to the developers about the issues with the game.

This will continue until the following points are met, or an equally satisfactory condition that will guarantee stealing as a permanently unthreatened game mechanic.

  • No delay for "keep"
  • No delay for "grab"
  • No delay for "eat"
  • Stolen items = unredeemable for 120 seconds, or
  • Stolen items = contraband to be laundried or sold to vents
  • PVP (no-penalty kill) flag for thieves, but no limit placed.

Why devs should readd stealing
Unlike shop pushing, stealing is not an exploit. It is a community interaction that shapes the game into what it is.

Aneurism 4 is possibilities WITH consequences. Stealing had no consequences, but now they removed the possibility too. This is contrary to the game's way of being and it makes no sense that a prole with nothing to lose could resort to murder and cannibalism but is prevented, by some unknown moral force, from picking up or even grabbing an item of someone else's.

Stealing is an engaging and community-building activity and it deserves a place into the game.

But people get griefed!
So what? People get griefed by Sanitars in wartime, or fights in the mines, or anti-banker mobs, or proles outright robbing them in the streets. The potential for griefing cannot be removed - the best solution is to channel it.

But my ingots will get stolen again!
You will be able to do something about it - this is PART OF THE THIEVES' UNION PLATFORM . No more free cytes off someone else's back: it has to be fairly implemented, while right now, it simply isn't in the game.

But people will drop me stuff and then use it to kill me!
The "keep" option could be replaced with "steal", the assets for which are even in the game, to better ensure players aren't accidentally PVP flagging each other. In case it still happens, we already have something similar in the game, which serves almost no purpose at all, unlike picking up items - pushing. You are free to "steal" the item just as much as you are free to push the Limitator back.

Alright, but how do we do it?
Devs are responsive to community feedback. I will personally go on a "strike" because the game is simply unfun for me after the v16 update; I encourage others to do the same, if they find similar conditions to be true for their case.

All thieves, regardless of what else they do, should report in under this post or make similar ones, and personally tell the devs their gripes with the game, what our platform is and what we want done to fix things. The situation is unreasonable and it has to be fixed in a timely and long-sighted fashion.

Remember that numbers are what matter. If the devs see participation, they will have to address it.

If someone got flagged to be killed with no penalty after stealing in plain view then I would support this. As of right now, someone can take your stuff and you cannot punish them for it without punishing yourself.

The thing is, right now there is a delay for keeping, eating and even grabbing things that are supposed to be someone else's. It's just a hard block on your abilities as a player. The thieving situation wasn't good before - because nothing could be done against it once it happened, but removing features from the game is not the way forward and I believe it should be made clear to the devs
man I thought I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid

I'm agreeing with ya. I don't want any hard limits, but I do want stupid behaviors to be punished heavily.

If people want to live the life of a thief with a permanent limit then sure go ahead, but you shouldn't just be able to waltz away with someone's ♥♥♥♥, and when they kill you for it, they're the ones to go negative.
Stealing, and dealing with stealing, was terrible and was removed for a reason. Even with the ability to kill people for stealing, they can still dump it in a crate for anamnecytes, hide it, or jump in a furnace with it (as often happens with repair kits). It is not an 'engaging community activity', it's just annoying and obnoxious and can completely block you out of actually playing the game because a few people are deciding to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Like even with the changes I had to give scumbags (yes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scumbags) a list of names of people who'd steal my repairs kits so they could kill them and return the kits to me so I could actually fix ♥♥♥♥(so they could in turn break it). You shouldn't be able to ♥♥♥♥ over 2 primary ways of playing the game without difficulty or consequence. So no, ♥♥♥♥ stealing, and ♥♥♥♥ your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ way of playing the game. I'm glad it's gone, and it's a shame it was even a thing that could happen in the first place.

Stealing was removed because it was not punishable. My proposal is to make stolen items harder to redeem, so that it is not gratuitous and unpunishable griefing, but a proper gameplay mechanic, that has pros and cons for everyone involved. I do not see devs hard-removing options from players as anything good for the game.

I proposed something like this to combat thieves, the real reason it was so rampant is because you could do nothing about it, I hate thieves but removing stealing completely makes the game too simple.

Biggest issue with stealing is that you badically have no counter to it, and a free role can abuse it

Stealing rations especially should stay this way (as proposed by the devs) because it isnt "the community" its just griefing and immersion breaking

You should have to steal by mugging someone, or similar, which already has punishments, not get a free pass to just break the game

Stealing rations is NOT INTENDED as far as being easy and unpunished is concerned

However, the delay to still be able to remove it without punishment (and it should at least be this way, whether it is or not) should exist to stop people from griefing the civic centers and making them unusable permanently (which is unintended)

Unintended features are exploits, even if you dont agree

If we are to remove the cooldown. Make them place a limit, but keep the cooldown to remove the flag that places the limit in the first place to avoid other exploits
