DARKWOOD MULTIPLAYER?
DWMP

Recently, I was playing the well-known game Hollow Knight with a co-op mod called HKMP. The main idea of the mod is that it allows multiple players to play together in real time, but with some caveats: each player has their own individual progress, enemies are not synchronized, but they can still be attacked "blindly." For example, if player A strikes a specific X/Y coordinate where, on player B's screen, an enemy is standing, player B’s game can register that hit as if their enemy was attacked.

The key feature of this kind of co-op mod is the visibility of other players—or rather, player "phantoms."

That got me thinking: would it be possible to create a similar mod for Darkwood?

If anyone skilled in modding is reading this, let me know—do you think something like this could be done?

With enough time and effort, anything can be modded; the problem is that some mods are so intensive they might as well have been a separate game.

Its been something people have talked about off and on for a while now. But I still don't think anyone's made a darkwood coop mod. Could be wrong but the only mod I've seen is the holdout mod which is like a survival round.

Online takes work, also money for dedicated servers. Its why most online games have paid sources like dlc or subscriptions. Even private servers for RPGs for example. Someone is paying to keep that server up. Its also why dead online games have to use hamachi and lan setups to connect directly to your buddy. Without all that there's no real incentive to make a game coop without a dedicated server. And even a dedicated server like, for example the EU servers in eye cybermancy. Someone's keeping that up, and I've seen it go down for a while.

This is why so many games from hrot to darkwood to even ones that had online like dungeon siege, have no current servers. Someone's gotta keep it up, and that takes work and dedication.
