okay so here's the thing. im one of those people who would prefer to host the server myself but i can never seem to get it to work. i have no problem setting up port forwardind but i fear that the guides are outdated and even when the game was new ithey never worked. and there has never been any new discussion either. and i suspect that this is half the reason why multiplayer was never popular as i suspect many are probably simply unable to host servers at all. really bothersome to see that the only thing ...

What's the take on this? Do you form an alliance with a powerful race or go solo and just run quests at first and see how it plays out? I've allied early with a race that looked to be doing well and now they're suddenly getting wrecked and I'm basically allied with a race that's getting wiped and now I'm at war with the side doing the wiping....

As above, I'm just curious if there's certain pairings i shouldnt try and shunt into a diplomatic victory. I keep trying to go for em and everyone always hates everyone else xD
