I hate to write this review because I have always been a fan of the Ys games, however I was VERY disappointed with this one. The main deal-breaker is the fact that the combat in this game sucks, the camera angle is choppy and all over the place, the dodge mechanic sucks, the skill tree makes no sense to me and the Mana board thing is impossible to control.
The voice acting is somewhat decent, but the only thing that is actually really cool is the ship combat, which is indeed very cool, but not enough to compensate for all the other stuff that sucks.

Ys Warriors, which has been accidentally renamed to "Nordics", is your average musou game in which you spam abilities against increasingly large groups of nondescript enemies. There are no further depths to be explained about the combat because, while yes, there technically ARE mechanics to be discovered, none of them matter because being in a skill animation gives you 90% damage resistance, making you able to facetank every encounter and bossfight with just one percent of lifesteal, while skill chains give you such a big SP discount over time that you never run out of SP to cast.

Needless to say this is a gross departure from the usual Ys formula, so hopefully the eventually upcoming Ys XI is going to be better than this... weird spinoff.

Also, don't get me started on the game forcing you to play as Adol, instead of any of the other, infinitely more interesting characters you're usually free to choose from in the previous titles.

Does the game have alot of content? Oh, absolutely. But thus far, every time I closed the game I felt like I had enjoyed the absolutely most revolting pigfeed slop I have ever been given in a J-ARPG. The game actively tricks you with illusions of progress until you put it down and experience post fun clarity, realizing you have been doing nothing but mindlessly mashing buttons to see funny colors being blasted all over your screen for several hours, not even recalling any notable differences in the enemies you fought, not in small part due to the general lack of truly unique enemies.
