Sub Rosa

Sub Rosa

I really wish Steam would clean up the Early Access system
There's so many pieces of unfinished abandonware strewn across the store. If they want players to feel confident in contributing to the development of projects, it would really help if they showed some effort in following up with developers in the Early Access program to see that they are, in fact, actually working on the Early Access project.

And not, ya know, just letting it take up space, collect dust and occasionally tricking customers into buying it, thinking it's something that will be a full game one day.

Even a 'Potentially Abandoned' tag being added to games like this one would be apprectiated.

Oh c'mon both Larry and Hamilton still play this game. Thats enough right people!?
I have no idea what you're talking about lmao

Because of how many Early Access games turn into abandonware. Of course I don't own the game lmao

But it's still a video game for sale on a store, and the store saying "this game is in active development", which is a lie.

You don't have to get ripped off to expect stores to not mislead customers

Nowhere on the store page does it say that.

The early access blurb the dev wrote goes on to say "Suggestions on gameplay mechanics, game modes, and specific additions to the game will be ignored wholesale."

The "About this game" section below that reads "The game is currently in an extended and indefinite Early Access period so please do not purchase Sub Rosa without watching gameplay or doing a modest amount of research into the game."

The early access banner has a disclaimer for every early access game that it might or might not be in development because Steam is not the moral arbiter of making sure potentially burnt out indie devs update their games. If you had done any research you would have found out this information. That's not even considering the amount of effort that would go into defining criteria for what makes a game "Potentially Abandoned". Are old PC games from the 90s or early 2000s that don't get updates anymore "Potentially Abandoned"?

I'm glad you are aware that this game is truly dead, but if somebody ignores all the warning signs and plays a dead game for two hours and whines that they can't get a refund, who else is there to blame?
It's for sale on Steam. It's in the 'Early Access' section.

I think games that are abandoned should be VERY clearly labeled, if not removed from Early Access entirely. The Early Access system is for games in active development, it's counter-intuitive that it includes abandoned projects.

That's it, it's that simple. We can agree to disagree about it, we don't have to get into a whole debate.
Okay but you're still weird for going onto forums of games you don't even own expecting people to care. There is a small amount of people who still play this game

My brother in christ you are literally posting stuff like this in other forums for early access games like ultrakill. do you not have other things to do?

Hey remember when we disagreed about the words on the video game store? And I said "we can agree to disagree"

And your response was "you're weird, you want people to care"?
This game has a community that plays it, labeling it dead on the store just makes people not want to even try, which if they do try they see a link to the free version which they can then refund and switch to that where the game is actually played.
Not dead, not unplayable. Just "abandoned by the Dev"
