One Week of Wildwood Down + Patch Notes!

Hi everyone,

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a week since Wildwood Down launched! 🎉
We’re blown away by the support, laughs, and kind words from everyone who’s played so far. From the bottom of our hearts thank you!

We’ve also been busy squashing some bugs and polishing things up based on your feedback. Here’s what’s new:
1. Added WASD and Arrow Key Movements for "keyboard and mouse" control scheme.
2. Fixed Hint System to show subtle hints and then more obvious hints on the second check (Sometimes) We may do this more as we get time to implement it.
3. Fixed "No Timed Events" Mode for a couple puzzles to work more efficiently.
4. Added a visual for the "Wrestling Tutorial" to go along with the Dialogue explanation.
5. Polished and Fixed some "controller" bugs.
6. Squashed a few other minor bugs here and there.
7. Also Wildwood Down is now STEAM DECK Verified!

We’re already working on more updates and quality-of-life improvements. Keep the feedback coming! Your input is helping us make the game better every day.

Wrestling tips, por favor…

I know you’re instructed on how to tell which way to strike your opponents (high, medium, or low), but I’m only on the first match and already having trouble gauging which way he’s gonna go. Either I’m blind, or his “signals” are just more on the vague side (probably the former)—but I’m having trouble either way. Am I missing something subtle, or am I wrong here & it’s actually randomized?...

5 is really not much when you have achievements (especially if there are missable) for a 8-10 hour game.

It's been great seeing everyone enjoying the game! We made a few fixes and added some things that were suggested to us.

Patch List

Fixed lots of grammar mistakes
Fixed mannequin bug
You now have 12 save slots instead of 6
Added "Macho Ticket Guy" to the Credits
Fixed some Mac issues
Fixed some Steam Deck controls Glyphs

We've put tons of work into recording it with live instruments including twangy guitars, dreamy melodies, and French horns. The soundtrack channels the mystery of a seaside thriller with the swagger of 50's boardwalk rock.

I would not recommend this game.

The vast majority of puzzles are built on moon logic; the gating of advancements is bad. Oh look something on an unrelated screen that was unrelated to the action we just did has now changed so go ahead and just look for it...

Wrestling-> special move finishers being tied to the opponent is the coolest thing in the game, but guess what it is hidden behind the worst minigame I've played in years. No, it is cool you need to hit opponents 3x+ for them to lose but you only get to get hit 2x or just once. Also the hit them where their hands are most in the "repeating pattern" is useless if the timer runs out before a pattern is completed (whaler)... And some of them then don't even rely on where the hands are so you can just ignore the instructions on how to play.

I have a life-long friend with Down Syndrome as well, so I know how hard it might have been for him to do the voice acting. He did a great job.

I nearly grew up playing those Lucasarts Monkey Island games and this nearly scratched that itch from them. It's been enjoyable, humorous at some parts, and voice acting is on point for all characters. This was a surprising gem and having been to Wildwood, made me want to visit again lol. Uhh... without the murders...

Nice game. Loved the story and the main character Dan. He is really funny.
Only little con is the mechanics for those who play with a mouse. Since the game is 2.5D, it might be tricky to control Dan in some scenarios, but all good beside this.
