While playing Serious Sam 4 I have the feeling that at some point the developers just decided: 'Why finish what we started? Let's release the game as it is and be done with all these bugs and issues'.

The game doesn't look much better than the third one, performance is really bad (framerate can drop from 100 to 20 fps out of nowhere and these drops happen no matter which graphic settings I had), cutscenes never run smoothly, using the scope always results in a significant framerate drop, Vulkan API is broken, when I was trying to check it I had some weird flickering on all trees (framerate was the same as on DX11 because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) and by the way... Serious Sam is becoming too serious. Where are the cactuses in sneakers and sunglasses with rocket launchers? Where are zombie stockbrockers with shotgun? I say this with a heavy heart as a fan of the series. Currently, I'm not even able to finish the game due to crashes to the desktop after the loading screen in chapter 10.

The full title of the game should be Serious Sam 4: The Unfinished Encounter

The only word to explain it overall is "Splendid".

Even though the game has this older vibe which i sometimes enjoy it seems to just be cheapnes rather than a design choice, the animations are not that great and the textures for most of the weapons arent amazing either, with those drawbacks i cant recommend the game for the price its at.
