So BF2Hub has been down since at least sunday, you can't log in in game, and the website won't load. Are there any alternatives for playing online?

im trying to login to my old bf2 account and it gives me this error everytime. it also happens when i try to make a new account :( why ? im also using my steamdeck, but i dont think that would be causing an issue?

Does anyone know where I can get a Steam key for this game? I have two physical copy's. One from 2018 from old gaming PC, and I got a new one this year in 2024 for my brand new gaming PC. I looked at the price on Kinguin and it is £1.041.01, crazy amount of money that is....

UPDATE #2 15.4.2025: I'd say this guide is now completely redundant, since i've made the last update, BF2Hub has come back up, despite still having a maintenance banner on the website, stats and logins now work. Plus, Back 2 Battlefield hasn't been updated in months and doesn't seem to be getting another update anytime soon, so i don't recommend it anymore, go play on BF2Hub. UPDATE 4.11.2024: This patch is no longer needed, there is a new way to play BF2 online with a working account creation and ranking...
