This game is really interesting. The gameplay is nothing special. It's solid and has some nice aspects. The only legit issue with it is the game is not just difficult and even as a kid I don't think I'd ever struggle with it. Where the games shines is literally everywhere else. It stays true to the film and you really feel like youre in that world. Same VAs, for the most part, the animation is properly realized, the story makes sense within the world of the movie, and it has a shocking amount of side content and content in general for that matter. The game is over 10 hours long with a lot of cutscenes and majority are fully voice acted. The surprising thing is it has this persona inspired hub system. So inbetween the main missions, that're classic beat'em up style, you have the turtles home in the sewer. Where you can talk to everyone, upgrade the turtles, do extra content on their phone or computer, and theres areas you can go to from the map that're also in that persona style where there's side stuff to do. The main use for them is to interact with people and each turtle as a quest line through a specific person. Every time you do one the turtle's upgrade path is leveled up. There's not a ton of depth to these persona inspired moments but it's still a cool addition and lets you live in that world more and not just feel like you're mindlessesly doing fights over and over. I think that adds a lot to a game like this where most people are coming for the TMNT world not just a beat'em up expierence. Overall this game is impressive and isn't just another run of the mill beat'em up. Hopefully they can build on the ideas from it and make a even better version along side the sequel to the movie.
