Listen, when I tell you I was hyped for this game, I was HYPED. The amount of times I stalked their official discord, waited for new teasers, trailers, anything I could get my hands on. The amount of times I gushed to friends about how excited I was for this game... So, did it live up to those expectations? Why or why not?

**Spoilers ahead**

- The biggest drawback of this game is simple: it's a horror game that isn't scary. The monster designs are amazing - I think most people can somewhat agree. However, upon getting attacked... nothing happens. You get knocked over, or throw up, etc. But that's it. There's no risk of dying in this game. There's no punishment for getting caught, except potentially having one of the non-mutant animals die.

- The writing in this game is WEIRD. Like sometimes, everything makes enough sense to be believable. But then there's moments where the main character is entirely unbothered by an assortment of situations that would make even the most stoic of men lose it. Mutants, a killer zoo keeper who drugs them and traps them inside the zoo, that same zoo keeper asking them to turn people into food, etc. Like excuse me? Whatever Paul is taking, sign me up right now. I can only dream of lacking this many f*cks.

- This game is somewhat repetitive. It's incredibly short, with each playthrough taking roughly 2 hours if you take your time doing things. You're supposed to play it multiple times for multiple endings... 20+ endings to be exact. But each ending is barely different, and often just gives you a new wall of text to conclude the story. So who would really want to replay the game that many times for such minor changes?

- You can pretty much exactly pin-point when a mutant will reveal itself. After you feed the animals and complete all your tasks and go back to create a medicine, the moment you go back, it'll bust down the door. It takes any and all suspense away. It doesn't try to ambush you, or anything. It always reveals itself at a specific time, and then you get a linear "boss battle" - which by the way, the game does NOT explain at all. You can't cure the mutant without mutant cures, which are in a locker back in the hub area, which you have to go out of your way to get. If you forget them or don't know to go to them, you're out of luck.

- On a positive note, the devs have been hard at work with bug fixes. I have had ZERO glitches or bugs since I started playing. Say what you want about the games design, or its flaws... at least the devs cared enough to make it a smooth experience.

I love games that give me tasks. I love horror games. I love games that throw unique concepts at me. At the end of the day, I definitely feel like the devs tried to deliver a product that checked all of these boxes. Ultimately though, it missed the mark in a couple of important areas. Would I suggest this game? If you're looking for a scare, I'm afraid not.

Honestly, it doesn't deserve all the bad reviews, the game is a little fun experience with lot of endings, a bit repetitive if you want to unlock them all, but still enjoyable.
I played the game with my girlfriend and we had a pleasant time.
Sure there were hiccups in the advertising or the game itself, but people nowadays have to stop review bombing.
