Out of sheer curiosity: What happens if you ignore the Umberland quest and trigger a time jump?

I'm 25 hours into hard difficulty, and... like, what? Every other area is impossible, with bosses that wipe more than half my party in a single turn, I'm getting things unlocked and finishing quests and such by randomly finding the right(?) places I'm supposed to be able to beat, but the sense of slowly getting stronger after a hard struggle is not present at all. My team feels just as garbage as they did when they were a group of level 2 noobs with junk weapons. There doesn't seem to be any realistic way...

I think it's safe to assume that they will follow this up with a RS3 remake as they basically have all the assets and textures they need ready and only need to create the main characters/player recruits and do the cutscenes/story. But are there any chances that we could see a Frontier remake in the same style? I know, this series is not exactly that popular in the west but oh man, that would be so cool. tl;dr let me give you my money Squaresoft....
