I love the original board game. I was so excited when they announced the digital version and I was not disappointed. The digital game is so polished and yet, does not stray from the physical one.

They did an amazing job with the graphics and animations. Even the music perfectly fits the theme of the game.

Love how the different scoring parts of the game such as lessons trading, baskets, previewing the cards, all are clear and user friendly.

My only pet peeve is the public lessons which they allocated small space for which makes it easy to forget to scroll down for more public lessons.

The online play is smooth and had no issues playing with friends.

Absolutely recommend this game even if you haven't played the physical board game.

I've played 4 or so games of the Rescue mode. Currently I am not a fan of the Steam implementation.

1. It's not coded correctly. At the time of writing this the Rescue challenge had rescue a free cat when you create a family of 5 condition. I rescued to create a family of 5, and with the free cat also added a 5th cat to a different coloured family, and then with the 2nd free cat rescued a third colour. Instead of only rescuing 3 cats (i.e. pay for one and x2 free), the game allowed me to rescue 7 or so? Also I covered a map during this process and wasn't allowed to gain my treasure, which was annoying as it was a scoring condition on a lesson card.

2. I don't like the AI as it doesn't simulate people. It's been coded fairly simplistically (at least in the Rescue condition) as pick cards in the draft in an order, which is something like Public Lessons, Private Lessons, Treasure cards, anytime cards, baskets. This might sound ok, but it means if you do not receive lesson cards or treasure cards in your initial drafted hand, good luck in getting them. In real life people tend to want to secure a basket, or secure the anytime card of getting more fish to maximise how many cats they rescue. The result is that in the Rescue challenge it feels more like it's just random versus any strategy. And it doesn't feel like this when I play this board game in hardcopy with people.

Do I find the game satisfying in the Steam version with AI? No. I don't want to use Steam to play with others (otherwise I would have used BGA). I'll give the solo mode and challenges a go, but I am very disappointed by the Rescue module, as I adore the daily challenges in other games like Railroad Ink, Sagrada, and Cascadia.

This is a good implementation of a good board game but somebody needs to point out the graphics look like they came from a mobile game from 15 years ago. I think I would have preferred the original imagery.
