Decimate Drive

Decimate Drive

I feel the plot and the gameplay are way too disconnected.
I won't deny, this game has a very decent game-play loop, but as seen by many, the story on scour is too hard for many to understand. Not a bad story but perhaps one that is not playing off the gameplay itself, adding to the confusion.
I understand is a limbo like scenario and doesn't have to make 100% sense. I know that perhaps there are some very indirect references to the story gameplay wise, like the teddy in front of that one car prolly been Andrea's. But the main thing is, you don't get any explanation of many of the gameplay elements except is part of the dying dream.

Look dev, at the end of the day this is your creation, and I have no right to just barge in and make you change it. But I kinda gave it a thought and I think I have come with a story that might fit the game better. If you or anyone is interested i'll post it here. As for the original story, I recommend that you don't toss it away, is not bad, but clearly it would play better on a game that leans heavier on psychological horror and is more slowed down that this.

Admittedly having just streamed/recorded this game with friends I'm afraid I have to agree. I don't hate the game by any means but the demo left me on such a "Ooh, where is this gonna go" cliffhanger when I first played it, that upon now playing the game after buying it I feel like the story - pardon the car humor - took a backseat.

I think it kinda became obvious after what felt like 10 levels in that this game doesn't need a story and should just be about the cars chasing the player[s]. I was hoping it'd be like Maximum Overdrive but the "story" is so vague and hard to follow, not to mention the cutscenes felt like they were 6 seconds long for me to really sink my teeth into.

I mean I wasn't expecting an Ernest Hemingway-thought provoking deep story, obviously, but still. Plus not to mention there's a stop-gap level where I'm required to walk slowly from payphone to payhone without the cars, those levels could be removed entirely to keep the gameflow at a steady pace.

I wasn't bored, in fact, I liked the game a lot, but I left the game feeling, "I was sort of expecting a little more than just 'you vs. the cars' in every single stage." One of those feelings where it's like, "It's good, but I'm feeling unsatisfied."
