Very relaxing game. No city management, just place buildings while you watch Blade Runner on a 2nd screen.

Looks great but needs optimisation.

Dystopika is a wonderful game that I keep coming back to. It has a fully invested development team with passionate modders who contribute immensely to the workshop space; even delving into the discord there are plenty of open discussions between players sharing their suggestions, critiques, grand ideas, pet projects, images for usage in game, tips and tricks to achieve certain "looks" that you would only know through messing around, and, most importantly, sharing their cities via screenshots, short videos, file submissions, and community competition focused entries (with voting from an active community in their discord!)

The game itself, you have to understand, is not a competitive builder where you're facing off against a high score or regional placement. It's an atmospheric city builder as the descriptions would tell you. This game is for those who want to immerse their selves into creating a world that they could only experience through books, video games, and movies/cinema. I urge you to play this game if this appeals to you and just enjoy getting lost in it - you won't have all the blocks and assets in the base game right away but just mess around and you'll unlock everything. Also, the workshop blocks and assets are available either way. Their are billboard options in the game that can take png/jpeg and mp4's which is fascinating.

How do I play the game? I, like many of the amazing fans in the community, choose to create my cities with a story or feeling of some specific direction. At the heart of every city is the basics of wonderlust and awe, so don't feel like you can't do it. The game is designed to give you that power and ability! Many of us use the cities we create to help support other projects, skill development, and having a platform to aid in telling a narrative. Sometimes you need a game like this topaint a landscape in your mind that maybe you're struggling to put on paper/digital. Is it more a hive-mind city? Is it a "class" of city? Are their districts? Is it similar more to Deus Ex and Cyberpunk? Are you going for more of the atmosphere of Bladerunner? What if it is none of those and you just want to experiment? For instance, right now I am dialing a project in more towards taking huge megablocks available through the workshop and creating mega structures like you would find in environments in 90's future anime that stem from Syd Mead works.

I couldn't be more thankful enough for a game like this. I have been dealing with what I figure is undiagnosed depression and anxiety for about 5 years, and this game helps me to lose myself in something fun like whenever I draw or am with friends. I hope this game offers you the same benefit, and to those who try it and didn't like I am happy you gave it a shot.
