Its been a while since I played this game, but i found myself thinking about it again. I found out about Re:Fresh from the Student Game Awards stream and was blown away by how good it looked. Artistically, this game ticks so many boxes for me. Its cute, cozy, solar punk, and it has tv head robots living in harmony with anthros. The platforming was fun and rewarding. Double jumping and dashing in the air seriously never got old. The gameplay loop of platforming to collect resources to solve problems was fun in its simplicity and wen well with the inciting incident of the storm messing up the town. I was a bit disappointed by how short the game felt, but I think its because the quality made me forget I was playing a student project. One thing I will note was that it was hard to tell if I was on the right track towards the end. The platforming in the last area with the wind turbines was tricky and time based in a significant difficulty spike. It was also not very obvious to me that the turbines were supposed to be interacted with as platforms rather than just being environmental flavor. Because of this, when i found myself parkouring off the turbines, I thought "this doesn't feel like what I'm supposed to be doing". I had to look up a letsplay to figure out the last area. I loved this happy little game and it definitely made me hungry to play more action oriented cozy games.
