i just recommend this game, i like it. when i try to recommend it to people they say its dumb or so bad its good but they're just parroting memes from the playstation 2 era, no original thoughts. imagine my shock.

anyway, it can be ruthless when you play on hard (what should be called normal) if you rush without thinking.
you need to think, plan your approach, understand your loadout, its not just about damage but effective range, penetration, speed of reload, accuracy, rate of fire.
if youre dealing with powerful armored aliens bring powerful AP guns, etc.

I've properly started this series with EDF 5 and was instantly hooked. Played with a group of two friends all the way to 100% in EDF 5 and we intend to do the same with this game.

There are issues, most of which are connected to the stupid decision to use epic games as the multiplayer backend. Syncing between players is extremely bad, positions, rotations and aim direction of other players will not sync properly which will, multiple times, result in team kills, since weapons will not always shoot in the direction the player has aimed in for everyone.

Performance is also worse then it was in EDF 5, I see regular frame drops into the 20s with an RX 6800, which handled EDF 5 pinned to 60 fps. The lack of ultrawide support also is unaccaptable. You can select the resolution, but you still only see in the middle of the screen. There are widescreen hacks though. You can modify a dll to enable ultrawide resolution. It's not perfect, the UI will be buggy, but it is 100% better then letterboxing. At least they fixed the crashing issues on AMD GPUs.

With all that said, this game is still awesome. I have my fair share of criticism for this game, but we will still play it through to 100% including both dlcs, just like we did with EDF 5. It'll probably take years, which makes me very happy. The Story is just the perfect amount of weird, all classes feel better, multiple mechanics got improved and the new enemies are awesome. This game will get really hard. We are currently at the very end of our first inferno run and some missions are extremely brutal, but I love that. DLC 2 will be absolute torture though.

If you played EDF 5, and I hope you did, you will love this one for it's story alone. It is even longer with EDF 5 having 140 Missions (main game + dlcs) and EDF dwarfing that number with it's 147 missions in the main game alone, plus an additional 59 missions with both dlc bringing the total up to 206 missions. If you want to 100% everything, strap in for 12 runs of every mission (hard, hardest, inferno with every class) at the very least, so you're going to play at least 2472 levels compared to 1680 levels in EDF 5. I'll spend years with my friends playing this.

I really hope they will finally fix the sync issues. If they are gone, this game will be a true evolution from EDF 5

The plot is very B-movie ish but it's still fun with relatively smooth controls and a range of play styles to fit any gamer.
