A few players reported some out of memory errors and issues with the text-to-speech. This minor update should fix both of them!

Explore whole new rooms and locations, talk to two new NPCs (parent and child, both nobility), and discover the secrets of the manor, either by earning the trust of the lord or lady of the house, or by poking around until you're kicked out. In addition, there are new graphics that help convey the passage of time more clearly.


New region: The Manor! New rooms to explore, books to read, archives to visit, dinner to eat. Enjoy all the luxuries that nobility affords!

Two new characters: The Noble and the Lover (the Noble's son or daughter). Get to know both, improve your relationship with one or both (or neither), and explore all the interactions with these characters.

Discover all the secrets in the Manor! Hidden passages, old knowledge, and lost paintings. Can you discover all the secrets of the Manor?

The Lover in the Manor and the Prisoner in the Cave are determined to marry each other. Will they remain separated, or will true love prevail?

In this update, you can meet an adorably curious kitfox, an aggressive billy goat, and an elusive squirrel! There are also new mapping features, fixed bugs, a new verbosity setting for text-to-speech, and improved signposting throughout the game. I hope you enjoy! 🥳


Meet the kitfox! It runs around the map, playing with you and sniffing at the ground. What’s it looking for?

Meet the billy goat! It leaps about on the mountain, looking for something to fight. Will that be you today?

New helpful navigation path on the overworld map! Right-click or long-press the map, and a path will appear on the map showing you how to get there.

A mysterious ruby-eyed squirrel, a character from a very early prototype, finally back in the game. Where will you find it?

This one is a minor update mainly to fix some issues with text-to-speech on Mac and Linux, and also to address some feedback I got about text-to-speech generally. But I also added a wild badger to the game that I’m happy about, and that makes for a cooler update name, so this is the Wild Badger Update!

Several users on the AudioGames forum requested a text-to-speech feature that turned out to be pretty easy to implement, so I added it, and Michael Taboada reported a Linux issue in the comments on itch.io that has been fixed now. So here's a tiny update with those! Enjoy. 😊

• Added "Copy Speech to Clipboard" setting for Windows only. This allows players to use some screen readers (such as NVDA) with the graphical version of Upheaval. See the accessibility page[upheavalgame.com] for more information.

In this update, you can play Upheaval using text-to-speech, use keyboard or controller input, and pursue any of the adventure hooks in the new random village events.

Text-to-speech available in all graphical versions! To activate text-to-speech, use these shortcuts:

• Keyboard: Shift + T
  
• Controller: Left stick button + Right stick button (together)

Full keyboard and controller support! Read about the default controls here[upheavalgame.com]. Controls will be made configurable in a future update, sometime before full release.

New random events in town! Each event will tell you about a new adventure you can go on, either short or long. Hopefully these provide fun options for players unsure of what to do next!
