TERA STEAM FAQ + Help
What will happen when I open TERA on Steam for the first time?
When you open TERA for the very first time on Steam, the TERA launcher will start and a pop up window will appear offering 2 options:
  1. First option: Create a new account
  2. Second option: Log in with an existing TERA account
Once either a new TERA account has been created or your existing one has been linked to Steam, the launcher will log you in automatically and start the client on every subsequent start (you won’t be prompted to enter your account details again).


How will I be able to link my steam account to my existing TERA account?
As mentioned above, the first time you launch the game on Steam, it will prompt you to log in to the game just as you have done before (with the TERA launcher). Doing this will automatically link that account to your Steam account.


Is it possible to use several TERA accounts via the same Steam account?
No, it is not possible to use several TERA accounts via one Steam account. You can however continue to use the standalone TERA launcher.


Is it possible for me to unlink my TERA account from Steam?
It is currently not possible to unlink a TERA account from Steam yourself. However, you will still be able to play the game through the standalone launcher, even if your account is linked. Should you still wish to unlink your account, please get in touch with our support.


Is it mandatory to play via Steam? Do I have to switch to Steam?
No. Steam is completely optional. You can still continue to play without Steam.


Does Steam fully install the client?
Steam will download the full TERA Client. The launcher on Steam will not patch the Client anymore, but all client updates will be patched by Steam instead. You will still be able to change the language of the game through the launcher though.


If I've already been playing TERA, will I have to re-download the game if I want to play via Steam?
Yes, you will have to re-download the game through the Steam client and link your TERA account to your Steam account.


Are accounts going to be transferred?
No, everything stays the same. Steam is only another launching platform. You will still use your regular credentials to log in to the game.


Will there be a new server for Steam?
No, there are no plans to open a new server for Steam.


Will TERA Thalers be purchasable through Steam?
Yes, TERA Thalers will be purchasable through the Steam Wallet. Please check our guide on “how to add TERA Thalers via Steam”.

The client is downloaded on Steam but the game doesn’t launch?

Please, try to use the file integrity functionality on Steam: Right click on TERA > Properties > Local Files > “Verify Integrity of game files”.

Account Linking

Dear community,

with the launch of our new feature - Gameforge Client, there were some changes in one of the questions mentioned in the FAQ.

Will I be able to link my steam account to my existing TERA account?
  • It is not possible anymore to link a Gameforge client account to STEAM.
However, you can still link a STEAM game account to the Gameforge client (by logging in to the website[en.tera.gameforge.com] via STEAM ).

More details about the Gameforge client are available here[board.tera.gameforge.com].

How to choose your region

Dear community,

in order to access your region through STEAM (EU/NA), you need to launch the game through the STEAM Library.

Once you do this, there will be a pop up asking you in which region you would like to play:
  • EU: Mystel, Shakan, Seren, Yurian, Shen
  • NA: Velik, Kaia

How to login to the website and access Account Management if you play TERA through STEAM

· You can enter the website through this link: https://en.tera.gameforge.com/user/loginSteam

Once connected, you will have access to your Account Management.
