FEAR is one of the few games that aged insanely well.
Best AI is dubious at best. Yeah, it has fantastic AI for it's time, but it's not as revolutionary as you might think. When it comes down to it, it's just simple reaction scripts. But it is still very impressive, and i'll always be a huge fan of F.E.A.R. and its AI
yes imagine that game from 2005 has graphics of 2005 suprise surprise
In my experience is much more important than textures.
I Played it when it released, and again a few months or so ago, and because the game is so good, the thought of graphics never crossed my mind.
Colors, even for cloths looks like metallic or something and I think it's beautiful.
What game, in your opinion, has the most sophisticated AI?
keypoint's that there is a big confusion between the actual ai itself (the code, the algorithms, the hardcore maths etc.) and the overall effects it has combined with game mechanics, map layout and even graphics/sounds.
most games renowned for their ai such as fear simply provide npcs which have just enough complexity to look intelligent, and are also pretty fun to interact with. it's fun and lively to see soldiers fluidly reposition themselves. it's lively and fun to hear them bark orders.
however the code's still usually basic video game maths and logic. even when it comes to the raw amount of code behind it, it's pretty hit or miss as depending on what behaviours it models, you're not sure the player will notice and enjoy it. tragically enough a lot don't notice much, which is why recent games often don't bother and settle for generic ai.
