This game did not age well
This game came out when I was 15 or 16, first time playing this I was shocked how well the graphics were. I went back to play this yesterday and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game looks like ♥♥♥♥ lol. The only thing I'm still amazed with is the enemy NPC AI which is astounding, The enemy AI is still probably better then most of these newer games.

It still looks decent and has aged like a fine wine.

while the graphics may be dated, the game is still better than most modern/newer shooters that came after it.

The game didnt age well because the graphics of an old game looks like the graphics of an old game...

Well you're clearly daft. F.E.A.R. aged incredibly well. For a game from '05, it's still very technologically ahead of its time. Yeah it might look like a game from the mid 2000's, but what the fÜck do you expect? Just because graphically it's not upto snuff with games nowadays, doesn't mean it aged badly. Next time before you make an objectively rétàrded opinion, try to educate yourself. Thanks!

It aged better than most games. FEAR has one of the best AI ever made. Who cares about graphics dude? Ofc old games are gonna look "old" thats the nostalgia behind it. I played it when i was 13 and i still love it.

FEAR is one of the few games that aged insanely well.

I don't agree at all, on a 2k or 4 k monitor, with unlocked FPS it's awesome

Best AI is dubious at best. Yeah, it has fantastic AI for it's time, but it's not as revolutionary as you might think. When it comes down to it, it's just simple reaction scripts. But it is still very impressive, and i'll always be a huge fan of F.E.A.R. and its AI

get the ♥♥♥♥ outta here
yes imagine that game from 2005 has graphics of 2005 suprise surprise
F.E.A.R. has aged incredibly well. While the textures are old, the lighting is great and the A.I. is better than most recent games I've played.
In my experience is much more important than textures.

I would rather have a good game with dated graphics, than a crap game with great graphics.

I Played it when it released, and again a few months or so ago, and because the game is so good, the thought of graphics never crossed my mind.

I take hundreds of screenshots as reference, because the art style still looks stunning.
Colors, even for cloths looks like metallic or something and I think it's beautiful.

The graphics could be updated like a person is doing with HL2.

What game, in your opinion, has the most sophisticated AI?
calembredaine 19 Oct, 2024 @ 8:21am
chess and some other more complex tabletop games have had far more sophisticated ais than most video games with renowned ai. that might sound ridiculous considering these are much simpler games, but i'm serious.

keypoint's that there is a big confusion between the actual ai itself (the code, the algorithms, the hardcore maths etc.) and the overall effects it has combined with game mechanics, map layout and even graphics/sounds.

most games renowned for their ai such as fear simply provide npcs which have just enough complexity to look intelligent, and are also pretty fun to interact with. it's fun and lively to see soldiers fluidly reposition themselves. it's lively and fun to hear them bark orders.

however the code's still usually basic video game maths and logic. even when it comes to the raw amount of code behind it, it's pretty hit or miss as depending on what behaviours it models, you're not sure the player will notice and enjoy it. tragically enough a lot don't notice much, which is why recent games often don't bother and settle for generic ai.
