Once again Castle Craft is part of the Lovecraftian Days event on Steam, this time with a demo for you to play! And we'd love to hear your feedback on our Discord[discord.com].

Also we're going to post some news that many of you might have been waiting on later this week! But I can't give away the secret just yet...

Back to the lovecraftian theme, this is Hyperborea - the land of the Acolytes, ruled by the Elder One and one of the three present regions in Castle Craft.

Hyperborea offers a departure into the realm of the unforeseen. Here, the Acolytes command forces that defy conventional wisdom, compelling you to evolve your strategies and think beyond the bounds of the ordinary.

The bulwark of your castle remains your last line of defense against the eldritch terrors unleashed by the Acolytes. Yet, victory demands more than strength; it requires ingenuity. You must harness the full potential of your fortress in innovative ways to fend off the encroaching darkness and secure your kingdom's survival.

The Idea is great but the execution needs polish: - Minions are frequently killing themself - The balancing at the beginning is not good, unlocking things takes too long & if you dont know the ideal path you can easily get yourself stuck by not being able tp reskill or even rebuild in time - Its discouraged to rebuild because it takes too long to build/ excavate...

Demo Patch Update!

Hey everyone, we have just publisher the first patch for the demo, taking various feedback into accound we've received. A HUGE thanks to everyone who has made suggestions and joined our discord. Here are the changes:

⏳ Gameplay & Controls:
* A separate stamina bar that is used for sprinting, double jumps, and shield smashes
* More Build Time in Easy and Default mode.
* Mouse Inversion Option for both character and building pawn.
* Pickaxe Speed Boosts at higher levels.
* Easier waves 1 and 2.
* Improved enemy army positioning.
* The tutorial can be skipped completely via a dialogue option in the first dialogue.
* Friendly archers aim better and predict enemy movement. They also don't charge into enemy units anymore when at a distance.
* We don't teleport minions home anymore if you build economic zones underneath them. We just lift them up.

🔥 Weapons & Combat:
* Improved Ballista and Multi-Ballista: they lock on target quicker and shoot more accurately
* Flamethrower Fixes & Improvements – Crash issue resolved while being destroyed, HUD updated, and fuel recharges faster.
* Smarter Army Composition Algorithm for more of a natural unit placement.
* The sword has a stronger knock-back effect & can be used while jumping
* Improved magnets: They now attract flying units too & have less of a performance impact.

📷 Visual & AI Enhancements:
* Improved Camera Angles when enemy armies spawn.
* Flying Skeleton Bombers Nerfed – Attack speed significantly reduced.

🔥Bug Fixes
* Crash fixed which was due to the flame thrower firing mechanism.
* Some players being stuck in the tutorial after the economic zone part.
* Sometimes brainlings don't get activated and stand around.
* Some players were stuck in the sword part of the tutorial.
* Enemy units now do the correct amount of damage to doors, traps, and other prefabs.

By the way: Did you know that the game has voxel physics and falling voxels damage (friendly and enemy) units? Food for though: Mushrroom Traps.

I want to preface by saying that I think the demo feels like a really solid foundation and has me genuinely interested in the game! I really like the premise of actual, practical castle building against continued siege and how it potentially gets to interact with a destructible voxel format, and a lot about the demo feels good. I have praise though I feel the demo is very flawed in some core ways and I think some of the positives that particularly stuck out to me are better discussed at the end. The hotb...

I feel like there's a design imbalance

It's gonna be hard to properly articulate but the basic gist is that the building feels like it's secondary to the wave defense to me. All the things revolving around actually killing the enemies looks and feels pretty good full stop. I like that part. However, everything about the building isn't quite up to that standard. It's all too short. Building up your castle into something aesthetic isn't possible for someone like me who does a purely functional build first cause the time limit is too short. You ...
