CO-OP AND PREPARATIONS

Hello everybody!
It's time to do an update on how everything is going with the development of STRIDEN. First of all we want to thank all for taking part in our demo week at Steam Next Fest, tens of thousands have tried STRIDEN and we have been collecting a lot of feedback, and making performance records meanwhile under the playtest. We really appreciate that and we promise that we are listening to all feedback that we get. This is the main task that we are going to look at before the early access:

● Movement and traversing
● Radioactive fog
● Easier onboarding joining a mid-game
● VOIP functions - Mute players for example
● Votekick players that behave badly.
● Explosives overhaul
● Powerspikes
● Radio Transmitter - Tag “enemies” that also try to defuse the transmitter in the end
game. So you can work together if you want.
● Repair breached doors
● Limited construction items in a Stronghold
● More construction items to build your base in more creative ways.
● Spawn protection in Stronghold
● Be able to change soldier class without respawning.
● Be able to drop a radio transmitter tube on the ground.
● Lootable small ammo supplies
● Inverted mouse
● Improve UX
● Don ́t lose all consumables when you die.
● More consumables items to loot/use
● More punch to weapon sounds
● Gamemode for smaller amount of players
● Bug & Performance fixes

Something we have learnt after our playtest is that we really need to ensure that players can enjoy the game even if there are less players active on our global servers. Yes we are a new small indie title and it is going to take time for us to grow the active player numbers. So at early access in first half of 2025 we want to be sure that you always can start up Striden and play.

The last weeks after Steam Next Fest we have explored what we can do about a new PVE gamemode in STRIDEN. It started as a prototype but after exploring the possibilities of what we can do in the STRIDEN universe we took a decision to fulfill our vision with a new game mode that you can create your own server and play together with four friends. Yes STRIDEN is going to have a COOP mode! It feels a bit risky to do this so tight into our early access release but it is going to be worth it.

So what is our COOP game mode all about?
You start with your team in a Stronghold with basic gear to loot inside your base. Your task is to survive enemy attackers ( Soviet Army ) trying to capture your Stronghold. Between the attacking waves you need to explore the map to secure more resources to get better gear. Lootable areas are guarded by enemies and some of them are like a mini mission to complete. The longer you survive the harder the attacking waves are going to be. So building your defence is very important.
To win you need to collect 4 electron tubes to activate your radio transmitter as it is in our PVP gamemode Transmit. BUT if everybody dies it's game over. The only chance to respawn is if any of your team members survive an attacking wave. Kinda hardcore but insanely fun and immersive.

PLAY AT STEAM NEXT FEST!

Hello everyone!

Now is the day we have been waiting for, Steam Next Fest and we are so happy to be a part of it. A brand new demo of STRIDEN is live and you can play it right now until the 21st of October.
I want to talk about the idea with STRIDEN. We are a small indie studio in northern Sweden near the Polar Circle. We all love first-person shooters and have always wanted to make our own.

We felt that there was a gap between the Tactical hardcore shooters and arcade ones. Especially in the survival theme. That's how STRIDEN became an idea.
A fast-paced looter shooter with all the fun elements from survival / tactical shooters. The learning curve is going to be faster and every match starts the same for every player. Matches are not going on forever, and the possibility to turn around a match. Proximity chats are of course in our game too! ( a must for a “survival game” )

Gunplay is heavily inspired by older first-person shooters from the 2013-2018 era, same with the ttk.
Instead of vehicles in the game, we use Scandinavian animals. This system we call Power Spikes.
I want to remember the game is still in progress and pre-alpha so there are some bugs here and there and all features are not in place yet. You will also see placeholders and so on. But the main feeling of the game is there and we can't wait to see you all in STRIDEN.

We are going to have 3 maps in the demo and a bunch of weapons to unlock with our progression system.

PREPARING FOR STEAM NEXT FEST

Hello Everyone!

On the 29th of September, we ended our open playtest weekend. What a great time we had. It was so fun to see players populating the world of Striden again. Thanks for all the valuable feedback we got and we also located new bugs that we never have been able to get with our internal QA tests.
We are now heading for Steam Next Fest 14th of October!
So what have we been cooking for the last 2 weeks?
We have read all the feedback we got from the last test, have been checking crash logs, and pinpoint performance issues.
These are all the changes we made to the demo build.

New Stronghold house
We like the look and feel of our Strongholds. But we have a lot of ideas of what we want to do with it in the future. The Stronghold house was one of our first assets in our game and we have learned a lot after these 3 years. Our old version had too many triangles and un-optimized assets connected to it so it was a performance issue after some testing.
Now we have re-modeled the house from the ground up with performance as our main goal. We also have built it up now for our future content, for example: later on in the game we want teams to be able to make the Stronghold house a fortress/bunker with pre-placed assets but also the possibility to build it your way with class construction items.
So the new house is more open inside a more rustic feel to it and the cellar now is a bit easier to defend from spawn campers.
It's going to be awesome when everything is in place!

UI/Player Hud
Other performance-heavy assets have been our Player HUD and Tactical map.
Honestly, we are not pleased with the HUD so we have started a re-work on it. Scale it down so we have less going on the screen and we gonna later re-do all objectives icons to make it easier to understand what to do.

In the demo version, we have worked on the quickslot so it shows only that weapon you have equipped and if you scroll or use the keypad then you see the full list of equipment you got on you.

We have been removing the mini-map too. It's now found in the tactical map there that we want everything imported to be about your team, objectives, and power spikes.
Later on you can mark for example an Air Supply and all of your teammates can see what Air Supply you are heading to. A marked objective will also take more space in the world so you know where to go and unmarked objectives take less space in the visuals/world.
We have more work to do with this but in the demo, you can see where we are heading and yes already the performance is way better!

Fullscreen bug!
Last playtest some players found a horrible bug that we call the fullscreen bug. We have been trying to find a solution for this but unfortunately, we did not fix this for the Demo week.

But here are some tips on how to fix this bug.
Press ALT+TAB
Change to borderless in the graphics settings and restart the game. Spam full screen / borderless in the graphics settings.
We are sorry for this bug but we are not sure if it is a graphic driver bug, a game engine bug or a game bug.

Joining a server with an ongoing game.
Our new system for handling new players to an ongoing game will take us some time to create. But for the demo week, we have fixed it so the server fills up one team first and then fills up the other one.
So no more teams with only one player that just joined the match.

● Restricting Air Supplies to only be 2 active at the time.

● Enemy Spawnbeacons have now UI / Health bar.
● Loot empty loot boxes bug fixed.
● Stronghold rework
● Remove loot icons on the map
● Unable to respawn after closing the pause menu bug fixed.
● New gas mask filter every time you respawn.
● More non-used gas mask filters in the world.
● Kolarin got the right Air Supply system now. ( Used Vargen before )
● Server Crash Fix - Armour value Max Health Scale bug.
● Server Crash Fix - Change map to Kolarin.
● More settings for keybinding - Movement, Tactical map and mouse input ( press two
times to change mouse buttons )
● New setup for tactical map.
● Player hud updates - less on the screen
● Lower ranks to unlock all weapons in the game.
● Removed 1 Stronghold from every map

Screen not loading up fully

first of all good job with making this game looks amazing but there is an issue that just showed when i got into my first game , almost 3/4 of my screen is blurred out and that's an in game issue and i made sure to record it so i can show it to the devs and to be able to help in reporting any in game issues for further bug fixes but i couldn't find a way to share the video so if a discord channel can be provided or if it's possible to contact me in dms i will send it over...

problems with downloading the game from steam

The problem is below: When I try to download the game from steam the popup aerror appers : "An error occurred during the installation of the game. The game has not been released" Any ideas how to solve thiis problem?
