The other ships/boats you can get cooking/water storage etc... is there no way to do that on the galleon ??

I got back into this game last night a bit after bouncing off of it the first go around last year. I'm actually enjoying it more now, and I'm looking forward to doing more. I had a hankering for a survival game, and this one I always liked the environment more than others. I like that it's more natural. I haven't played Green Hell yet, that one makes me kinda nervous... but this seems like a good speed for me so far. I am still on Island of Hope. I set up a basic camp in the grotto, and I've finished...

Question about weapons? Regarding melee weapons, it says in game that iron axe deals 100 damage. Does that means it is far more powerful then iron spear as weapon. Which melee weapon in general would be the best. Also i read that gunpowder weapon doesn't worth trouble cause of reloading time. Is that true? Also crossbow says it deals 80 -100 dmg. Does that number stack with number of different arrows for them?...
