I'm enjoying this so far, but the amount of swearing is grating
When I say that I don't mean to say games can't have swearing, but people don't talk like this.

Unless you're talking to an adult with the verbal intelligence of a toddler you are not going to hear "♥♥♥♥" every 2 sentences, and it makes the writing come off as very amatuer.

It also makes character voice more difficult to define when every character has the same pattern of throwing ♥♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥♥ into half of every sentence they say.

Hopefully it will get better as the game goes on but bloody hell learn some new words.

a lot of games seems to think that their dialogue is realistic and or edgy if they use these words constantly. Like in Cyberpunk. major turnoff for me as well.

Yeah, it's a bit jarring and unnecesscary.

a very good (bad?) example in a videogame is "the medium" from Blooper.
The main character uses "what the hell" like every third sentence, even tough it is set in Poland and the writer is also Polish. It really takes you out of the game, i mean it would be even bad writing if it was set in Texas.....

Blame 30-something's and under: they've never had a genuine face-to-face social interaction in their lives, so as it often is with young teen boys, they believe that 'cursing' gives depth and weight to character dialogue, lol.

Pathetic, really.

You've obviously never had a conversation with a bogan - for them this would be incredibly mild and unrealistic due to not enough swearing.

Not saying they're right, but given the profession, what they deal with, and all that, the swearing didn't seem excessive at all. Course I do live in Australia where people tend to swear like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in casual conversation...

"The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains strong language, violence, blood and gore..."

so don`t be surprised when it does

I'm enjoying how every now and then some 15 year old pops in to completely miss the point.

MY TWO-CENTS:

Keep in mind this is from the perspective of someone that has been on the block and played many games over the years, including ones that had tons of vulgarity.

Curse words are the crutch of a writer insecure in their own abilities or what they are trying to convey to an audience.

If your curse words are being used as often as commas or periods, then you might want to go back and attempt a rewrite.

As a wise woman told me a long time ago, 'cursing is the sign of someone with a low IQ.'

I disagreed with that wise woman then, and I still curse today, under certain circumstances...as time has gone on, I think I understand what she was getting at.

Any writer should be careful to not allow cursing become TOO MUCH FILLER that distracts from what message, theme, idea or important information you are trying to convey.

Peoples time can be spent on ANYTHING, so if they are spending time on something you have provided, make it memorable...not just filler.

You can go from sounding 'edgy' to just sounding like a time waster.

TL;DR: I like this game, but agree with OPs assessment.

Dialog fits the game and the settings, and that include the "swearing".
Go watch some 'noir' detective shows and other in the dystopian future -shows
I live in the Czech Republic, and if you don’t say at least one curse word in a sentence, you’re an idiot.

Agreed. I came here to say this. Seems like a 13 old boy trying to prove how mature he is.

It's almost as if the game is inspired by genre fiction.

Finally someone who understands.

Like first of all, it's neo-noir that's not constrained by having a teen rating. Second of all, I feel like some of y'all are way too sheltered, I swear like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you know what - other people do as well. This felt perfectly fine, no fancy word will give the same emotional impact as a good swear.

Lmao even
