We just pushed a new update focused on visual clarity and game feel. This patch upgrades how level progression looks and reads in the middle of the action, from player power-ups to enemy threats.

• Level-up screen completely overhauled

• Evolution indicators added to streamline build planning

• Purify layout redesigned for a cleaner interface

• On-screen animations for Curios when triggered

• New Banish visual effects

Enemy level-up colors redesigned for clarity

Visual and Audio Updates

• New background track added: White Wing

• New sound effects for Warren

• Burn effects are now visible on player characters

• Brightness adjustments for weapon muzzle flashes and enemy deaths

• Seizure warning layout updated

• Revenge buff now displays a clear activation animation

• Brightness adjustments on Taka-chan effects

• Miniboss Charles VFX improved for clarity

• Elite enemies in Viridity Pass now launch mortar attacks

• Events are blocked from spawning during boss fights

• Pebble drops are now limited per run; deposits no longer respawn indefinitely

• Music Box now plays correctly when the related event is activated

• Fixes applied to the level-up screen, mainly related to controller interaction.

• Receiving a -75 Max Health debuff from an Offering can reduce health below zero, freezing enemy AI

• Taka-Chan shows the same Evolution multiple times when upgrade limit is exceeded, but no upgrade is granted

Hey everyone, we're back for another round of updates! This time we're addressing a huge point of pain from the community: more Information!

You all wanted to have more clarity on how to evolve Curios, and we're delivering that on our brand new Level Up Screen!

The UI team has been cooking this for a while, but it doesn't stop here! We are preparing some other things for this new screen! You can expect it to give you even more information so you can make better decisions on your run! Can't wait to share more on our next update ;)

New skies, new tricks, new ways to break the rules.

Here’s what’s cooking in Atomic Picnic:

We rewrote the sky. Literally.

New visuals up there. Cleaner effects everywhere else. Most of the VFX in the game got optimized.

• The Offerings event has a new twist. No more paying with HP. Now you trade 30 seconds of nasty debuffs for the Memento of your choice. Worth it? That’s your call.

• Tutorial’s tighter. Added a nudge on how to use active skills. Some of you needed it.

• Fall off the map? You won’t be crawling back from the start anymore. Respawn closer. Less pain. More game.

• Paulão’s shop now stocks upgrades for every single Memento. He’s expanding!

Mini-boss Charles and the Charger enemy finally found their voices.

Now they scream properly, and you can hear them coming.

• Gold Goblin no longer gets stuck doing absolutely nothing.

• Fire Devil’s missing buff icon is back from vacation.

• Shadows on some character areas in camp while playing as a client, and the host didn't have those characters unlocked

Diamantina got a cleanup

• Fewer cheesy safe spots

  • Better step-ups

  • Fixed some collisions

• Warren’s loot should stay inside the map now.

• Warren also remembered how to use all his attacks. About time.

Taka-Chan sometimes shows you three of the same evolution when you go over the upgrade cap. And then gives you none. We see it. It’s on the list.

Performance upgrades! I managed to play with around ~35 FPS on MAX settings on my Steam Deck after this update; it was amazing! The VFX and Programming team successfully reduced the footprint of all our VFX by an incredible amount, enabling some team members who previously had 10 FPS to achieve 30 FPS, which is CRAZY!

As always, we will continue to add more features and expand the game based on the community's feedback. We have some exciting features planned for our next major release, and we're fully focused on that. It'll take a while, tho. Meanwhile, some additional features will be introduced next, including an improved Level Up screen and changes to the deposits found throughout the map.
