Hey folks,

Wow! It has been really exciting to see the influx of new players in the past week! As a solo dev and first time indie, it's incredible to see how many people are interested in the game.

Even with Early Access concluded, I'll still be updating Throne of Bone to ensure it's the best it can be. So with that, let's talk about this 1.1 QoL patch:

Profiles

Having multiple profiles with independent progress was a feature requested in this first week of 1.0, and I'm happy to announce that it is now available! This wasn't a feature I realized would be important during Early Access, but it makes sense that lapsed players would like to start over from the beginning, so thanks for the feedback! Of note: while individual profiles maintain separate runs, collections, and "best" rosters, rosters for the grand catacomb are share across all for that installation.

Resetting your best

If you open the collection from the main menu, you will be able to 'dethrone' your previous best if you want to move on to a new post-win matchup.

On the Horizon

The focus in May will be bug fixing and quality of life, rather than new modes or content.
While I will be evaluating the performance of enemies and bosses, I will be avoiding balance that makes changes to player minions.

The Soundtrack is now available!

The ToB soundtrack, composed by the illustrious Pietro Frigerio is now available on Steam

Pricing

With the conclusion of Early Access and Launch Sale, ToB's price is now set to the intended 19.99.

Bug Fixes

- Fixing various controller issues
- (shadow patched) Skip Spell Button exploit fixed
- (shadow patched) Grand Catacomb UI issue when no winners found.

Level 6 minions not in the collection book?

I've been going around trying to get some of these achievements, and got confused initially that I hadn't gotten the all minions achievement yet, when I noticed that the collection book said I had 69/72 minions summoned. So I figured there must be level 6 minions, and sure enough, there are. Though they seem to only appear rarely at level 6? I managed to get one of them. But even though my collection book now says 70/72 minions, the level 6 minion isn't actually shown on the collection book? Also damn, th...

Did I miss something or does the skill improvement of Squashbuckler nothing at all? He does not get to use his ability twice or anything like that.

Achievements are bugged

Some achievements won't trigger for me. I just created frank-instein for the second time, but the "Minions" page lists it as summoned:0. Also I defeated 2 campaigns with all defenders in the last battle, but it didn't count. Am I doing something wrong?

Bugs

I have been enjoying this game for a bit, but there are a number of bugs that are occurring while I play. Some can be ignored (yet are still annoying) while others are actually game-breaking. For the mostpart, the manageable bugs that are simply annoying are: * while in fullscreen windowless mode, if I tab out, the game will go into fast-forward mode and remain that way the entire time I am anywhere in game; on a run, in the menu, either or. * while leveling up from experience gained from a particular m...

Bug: Blood Orange with Necroforager

When I summon Blood Orange with Necroforager, I get 1 skull for its recycling ability. The moment I click "proceed" and the fight starts though, that skull is removed and also it's not there anymore after the battle.

Looking Back

Throne of bone has journeyed through development for 2 years before Early Access, getting initial feedback from a private Steam playtest, and an invaluable Discord Server. ToB then the past year in Early Access, kicking off right after PAX East 2024. The Early Access Roadmap shows all the ground we've covered.

Going Forward

Throne of Bone is available at the special Early Access price of $16.99 for release week. Following this promotional period, the game will be available at its regular price of $19.99. Future updates are still to come, and I'll be active in the Discord as always, responding to bug reports and emoting at OP rosters :).

This has been an incredible journey, and I want to thank every player for their feedback and suggestions! Seriously, I am eternally grateful for every Player.log sent, feedbackbot bug report, screen shot shared, and discussion in the Discord. Design is really a process of curation, and this game could not be made without you! I intend to keep reading suggestions, and improving usability/UX whenever appropriate.
