Do you use OneDrive or have enabled Windows Defender Controlled Folder Access? These things can prevent the game from writing save files.

Looks like I don't. I've looked up another guide that suggested downloading and adding a save file directly to the folder and then rewriting it in game, but the game just doesn't see any of them.
