its a great parkour game

Mirror's Edge is THE classic parkour game. Whilst it does now show its age with occasionally wonky controls and even wonkier combat, it's a vibrant experience that I would recommend to everyone. This is what passion looks like over greed!

If breath of fresh air was personified, it would be this game

I would have loved to like this game because I am a huge fan of Mirrors Edge Catalyst.
This game however is just not it. The art direction, the atmosphere, the sound design are all absolutely amazing.
In short, the game is an amazing experience - until you actually have to play it.

Movement inputs dont work half the time.
Whenever you are hanging on something you basically cant look around at all (not very realistic, also a pain in the ass)
Wallrunning just does not work at all and the explanations they give you for gameplay are about on par with just not having a tutorial.
Multiple levels require you to utilize game mechanics that are never explained (breaking glass for example)
The game has random invisible barriers that get in your way
Jump height appears to be entirely random sometimes, especially when climbing up walls
Walking on ledges has about a 50/50 success rate.
After that, if you die, the checkpoint placements mostly suck and make you go through way to much of the level, especially during chase sequences.

The story is fine, but the level structure is not. Every level is the same:
1. Go place
2. Police show up immediately
3. run
4. oh woopsie daisy they forgot where you are so go back now i guess
5. do thing
6. more police
7. run again??? for some reason
8. "Oh my GOD faith you made it!!!!!11!!!!"

Gets repetetive fast, 3 levels in, they've all been the exact same. Disappointing especially considering the runtime of the game.

Overall a strong 3/10 because atmosphere. Would not recommend to people that like to play video games instead of just looking at them. Bad basis for a great sequel.

It was great, back in the day when it was new.

The parkour is clunky compared to other parkour games and the unskippable tutorial cutscenes that play every time the clunkiness makes you fall...

Few games have made me lose interest in under 10 minutes.

The game works good and has aged well technically. However, I can hardly recall any other game that forced me to rage quit so many times

It's rough around the edges, and it starts to drag on a little near the end - but it's short, you can't fault it. Its characterful.
