Thank you for joining us in Rigbarth for the launch of Rune Factory 5, ranger!

I wanted to make a central bug thread so you all know what we're working on and what information we need when you email us about any game bugs you encounter. I'll be trying to scour the threads for new issues, but if a bug is not up here already please post it in this thread so it'll be easy for me to find. We'd like to keep this thread focused on addressing gameplay issues, so for any questions or comments on other topics, please email comments@xseedgames.com.

Useful debug information:
  • DxDiag output
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Screenshot of in-game settings and/or launcher settings
  • Crash dump files
    Often located here %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps
    It would be from "Rune Factory 5.exe"

Please email support@xseedgames.com with these details if you are experiencing issues with the game.

Here are some tips to make sure you're getting the best performance out of your PC!
  • Make sure your graphics card is being fully utilized:
    • Stay updated with relevant drivers from your card manufacturer's website
    • Make sure you are using your main graphics card. Different graphics card manufacturers will have guides on how to always use your dedicated card.
  • Add Rune Factory 5 to the exceptions of any antivirus program:
    • "Rune Factory 5.exe" is the executable file you need to add.
  • Turn off any power saving mode your computer might be using:
    • Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options
    • Balanced or High Performance profiles should be chosen. Any Power Saving mode will lower game performance.
    • If you are using a laptop, make sure it has sufficient charge or it may automatically go into a power saving mode.
  • Make sure your PC has the latest Windows Update installed.

Hi! Would you be able to let me know what controller you are using? It's possible you'll need to enable Steam configuration support for it in your controller settings.

I've been having issues with the camera when using Keyboard + mouse. The game runs at a solid 144 FPS but the camera is very choppy and stutters a ton.
Everything works smoothly on controller but the camera has been kind of a mess with a mouse.

Is there a way to select the controller you want to use? The problem I'm having is that I have multiple devices that look like Xinput controllers plugged in, but Rune Factory 5 seems to default to the first one.

Anyone else getting graphical issues on the cutscene and main menu on Steam Deck? Instead of black during the cutscene, it's brown and on the main menu there's purple with scanlines/streaks across the screen.
Looks fine on my desktop, just not the steam deck.
If your steam deck seems fine, what are your graphic settings?

Yeah you can fix that by downloading community proton GE 7-21 from desktop mode, or using proton experimental bleeding edge build from valve

After I wake up from the first time I go to sleep the screen goes black, I assume for a cutscene, but it never plays. The screen just stays black forever and I have to force close the game. I have run through the tutorial twice now with the same result. Does anyone know a fix for this?

I'm having some drifting with my XBOX 360 controller for PC. Spinning the controller a full circle stops it for a short time but it comes back.

Just FYI it's not my controller and I replaced the battery just in case.

This worked.
Just a heads up for anyone else:
Go to Settings > Properties > Compatibility
Check the box.
Then select Proton Experimental.
Try running the game after, should be fixed, if it wasn't working after the quoted steps.
