The Thaumaturge is an intriguing isometric RPG set in a wonderfully detailed 1905 Warsaw. Thaumaturgy is the practical application of magic to effect change in the physical world, and here you'll use it to understand people and situations by touching objects and discovering emotions and thoughts of the person who touched them. You can also manipulate others, and that makes this talent extremely useful.
This game is not perfect and some mechanics can be a be repetitive, but the dialogues and situations are absolutely tasty , and it's a pleasure to dig and discover secrets and face missions. As said this practice is magic applied to the physical world and you use magic symbols very akin to the ones a Witcher uses, possibly a reference to the game itself or a common Polish fantasy heritage. In this game you'll also be helped by a real life character :)
it's genuinely interesting seeing real Warsaw in that era, with the Russian occupation, mixed with supernatural elements. With you you'll have one (or more) Salutors, demonic creatures you can "tame" and be with your for help and advice. They're also your allies when you are in one of the many turn-based fights.
It's a game that would make a stunning TV series, and I'm picturing its (handsome) protagonist played by Lee Pace, I'm sure it would have success.
So please do youself a favour, if you like occultism and historical settings I'm sure you'd like the Thaumaturge.

I want to like this game, but the gameplay is just not interesting. both the exploration (spam trigger to find stuff, press A to learn everything) and the fighting are extremely lacking in depth. Add to it the very poorly synced english dub and the nonexistant facial animation and you get a subpar RPG.

Really well done game with interesting story and easy to play.
