This as initially downgrading to Stable did not fix it, but I forgot that you always have to reboot preferably twice after actually applying an update consistently.
Oh well, got the on screen keyboard and mouse readout working again and now it's fixed again on Preview too, great!
But using the Magnifier tool is still causing the Steam Deck (LCD model) to hard crash everytime that I use it.
This issue still needs to be patched, as I tend to use this feature quite often if I am able to.
Edit: Using the Magnifier tool via a manually costimized controller layout with the Magnifier tool feature does not cause the Steam Deck to hard crash.
But using the built-in "Steam"/"..." button shortcuts to activate the Magnifier tool using that method, does indeed causes the Steam Deck to hard crash.
Edit 2: Correction, the controller layout configuration with the Magnifier tool function also tends to hard crash, but it's not a 100% chance of hard crashing.
you can revert by pressing ... + power and selecting 3.6.4 to reflash the firmware but yea, i thought i broke the deck :(
I'm referring to re-installing the firmware of the Deck's internal controllers, like updating an old Steam Controller manually without the old Big Picture client.
Which I did as I force-shutdown my Deck during what seemed like a failed boot, possibly related to my wonky USB-C dongle, after which this what felt like a firmware issue appeared.
So unlucky timing on my end but luckily not the cause, when in doubt blame Valve software (half-kidding, stuff like this is to be expected on the Preview channel).
Enable tearing DOES NOT WORK
I'm surprised you left a comment, seeing as with that logic if your internet died you'd just stop using it entirely.
I hope you give more things a chance in the future, there's a whole world out there
