Steam Deck

Native touchscreen controls and overlays
I'm requesting that we add touchscreen controls to the screen, similar to the way mobile games work. It would be awesome for games like mmorpgs where you can make a region over the map and when you click the map it emulates pressing 'M' to open the map. This would free up so many bindings in games with busy interfaces.

Another example would be with minecraft. You could bind the squares on the hotbar from 1-9 so that you can directly change to items on the bar by tapping them.

Additionally, allow users to add buttons on the screen for custom keybinds. For example, if a game has an inventory hotkey but has no icon for the inventory on the screen, the user could add a button that emulates a key press to open the inventory. This would especially be useful in modded minecraft where there are TONS of bindings for different mods.

This feature would allow users to free up a ton of bindings and not have to do crazy key combinations to hotbind interface options, resulting in a greatly expanded library of games that can be comfortably played.

This is something I had speculated would be possible before the Steam Deck released. Sadly, it never came to be. However, at least we still have virtual menus for the trackpads to kinda do the same thing.
My vision with this feature would be to clear up bindings though. Unfortunately the virtual menus aren't too great at that as they have to be bound to a button so kinda defeats the purpose
